AND IT IS OVER! Barcelona claim the three points! This results means that the Catalans would need just a point to secure this season's La Liga title. Espanyol will regret not picking up at least a point here, but they still have a chance to claim a Europa League place! Stay with us for our post-match materials and join us in midweek for our live coverage of Palermo - Milan! Bye, for now!
Keita replaces Xavi. There will be two minutes of injury time before the final whistle for this game.
Afellay wins a corner for Barcelona on the left, but that set-piece leads to nothing as there is a foul committed in attack by the hosts after the delivery from the flag.
Osvaldo is caught in an offside position after a pass from Chica on the left wing. The ex-Italy U-21 international wasted Espanyol's best chance in the game as he failed to finish after he was superbly by Alvaro Vazquez inside the box.
Yellow Card Isaías
Afellay replaces Pedro for Barcelona. The young Spaniard had a decent game, but did not really steal the show.
VILLA! Iniesta superbly managed to bypass Galan and Amat and sent a looping pass to Villa, who was crowded out by four defenders and the ball was cleared.
OSVALDO! Best chance of the game for Espanyol! Alvaro Vazquez released Osvaldo on the right side of the box with a delightful through-ball, but the striker sent a disappointing finish wide under no pressure at all.
Osvaldo tries a cheeky dribble on Pique, but instead of an ovation gets an accidental slap in the teeth as the defender was turning. No intention here and the two share a laugh afterwards.
Javier López Rodríguez
Isaias replaces Lopez for Espanyol. The midfielder had an anonymous game.
NOW PEDRO! The attacker was picked out on the right side of the box, took a few steps, and fired a finish which was blocked by Rodriguez in defence for Espanyol.
VITAL INTERVENTION BY AMAT! Messi drew four players outside the box before laying the ball for Iniesta on the left side of the box, who in turn whipped in a low cross, which Amat managed to clear just ahead of David Villa and over the bar.
The tempo has dropped quite a bit after Pique's goal as neither Barcelona, nor Espanyol seem to be putting too much effort in this game.
Andreu Fontàs Prat
Standing ovation from the Camp Nou crowd as Abidal replaces Fontas at left-back for the hosts.
Luis Garcia wins a corner on the left, and takes it, crossing the ball for Javi Martnez, who sends a disappointing finish over the bar and out for a goalkick.
Barcelona, too, are struggling to make things work upfront. That two goals seem to have settled this affair.
Xavi sends an uncharacteristically poor pass, which is easily dealt with by Espanyol's defence, allowing the visitors to attack on the break, but their efforts are futile.
Disappointing free-kick by Messi as the ball bounces off the wall and goes out for a corner on the right. That set-piece amounted to nothing.
Yellow Card Luis García
Yellow Card Pedro
Yellow Card Carlos Kameni
Soap opera at the wall as Luis Garcia, Pedro and Carlos Kameni are shown yellow cards for arguing with one another.
Raul Rodriguez concedes a clumsy foul on Messi in the penalty area semi-circle. It will be a great opportunity for the Argentinian to prove his sharpshooting skills.
Callejon left the pitch for Espanyol a couple of minutes ago, and was replaced by Alvaro Vazquez. The Real Madrid target had a rather disappointing game.
Same old, same old as Barcelona are retaining possession, pushing higher and higher up the pitch.
Osvaldo bamboozles Pique and with the central-defender scrambling on the ground, the Espanyol striker sees a decent shot saved by Valdes.
Eric Abidal is warming up, waiting to come on for Fontas. The France international made a miraculous return against Real Madrid less than two weeks ago.
OSVALDO! The Argentine did superbly to free himself of Mascherano on the right side of the box before sending a decent shot for the left corner, which Valdes managed to smother.
Osvaldo makes his way down the right flank and centres from near the byline for Luis Garcia, who fails to control and the attack by Espanyol is thwarted.
That was comical defending by Espanyol as that childish trick by Barcelona paid off. One wonders what is Mauricio Pochettino thinking of his defenders now.
GOAL! PIQUE DOUBLES BARCELONA'S LEAD! Superbly played by the hosts as David Villa did cleverly to draw three defenders as Xavi was taking a corner-kick on the left, allowing Pique to head in unmarked from just outside the six-yard box. Great goal!
Osvaldo makes his way to the left side of the box, but sees as shot blocked by Pique, allowing Barcelona to launch a counter-attack.
The second half begins.

David Villa won a corner on the left. Iniesta took it, but Carlos Kameni was allegedly fouled when trying to claim the ball in the air. A free-kick to Espanyol, but the referee decides blows his whistle for the end of the first half. Andres Iniesta opened the scoring today with a superb finish in what was a Barcelona dominated first half. Mauricio Pochettino's men will have to improve their play if they are to take anything from this game. Join us after the break for the second half of this exciting game!

There will be one minute of injury time.
Espanyol are yet to threaten Barcelona's goal seriously. The hosts' defence probably went off the pitch for a refreshing drink meanwhile.
VILLA! Messi went on a mesmerising run, skipping past no less than four players before threading a sublime pass for David Villa on the left side of the box, but the striker collided with Carlos Kameni, who was first to the ball.
Javi Marquez with the occasional swipe at Xavi's feet as Barcelona win a free-kick in the centre of the pitch.
PEDRO! Ambitious shot by Pedro as the striker went on a blazing run on the right before sending a shot from a very tight angle, which Kameni managed to push over the bar for a corner on the right. That set-piece, however, amounted to nothing.
VILLA! Double miss by the striker! First he was released on the left side of the box, but his panic shot was blocked by Chica, and moments later was released in a one-on-one with Kameni, and under no pressure at all send his lobbed finish high and wide.
We have seen precious little from Pablo Osvaldo. The ex-Fiorentina man has been a revelation for Mauricio Pochettino's men this season, and has attracted the interest of the top clubs in Spain.
The hosts are now pushing for a second after a period of upheaval for Espanyol. Messi looks particularly keen on a second.
Barcelona certainly deserved that goal after a period of domination. Iniesta scored a beautiful goal, but in truth Kameni could have done better there.
GOAL! STUNNING STRIKE BY INIESTA! The midfielder and Fontas played a delightful one-two, allowing the World Cup champions to skip ahead of Chica and Amat and slot a powerful shot from the left side of the box in the near corner.
Piece of magic by Messi as he superbly controls a chipped pass by Daniel Alves with his left foot, skips past Rodriguez, races to the six-yard box, but decides to shoot with his right foot, which resulted in a pseudo cross which went out for a throw-in on the left.
Javi Lopez with a clumsy foul in the centre of the pitch on Iniesta and Barcelona win a free-kick.
Great intervention by Mascherano! Callejon was released on the right, making use of some very poor defending by Fontas, and whipped in a low cross, which the Argentinian was happy to hoof away.
ALVES! The Brazilian pounced on the rebound, following a cross from Pedro, and let it fly on the volley, but his finish lacked precision and the ball fizzled wide of the right post.
INIESTA! The dynamic midfielder with quicksilver feet went on an incisive run on the left, leaving Amat and Chica in his wake before blasting a low finish from the left side of the box, but Kameni was up to the challenged and managed to smother the ball.
PEDRO! The attacker blitzed Chica on the flank, took a few steps to free himself some space, and pulled the trigger. Kameni only managed to punch the ball, but luckily for Espanyol it rolled back to Chica.
VILLA! First shot on target for either team. The ex-Real Zaragoza man made his way down the left flank, swiftly sidestepped past Galan and send a rather weak effort from outside the box right into Carlos Kameni's hands.
Callejon clips Mascherano from behind, and with neither of them particularly happy, they proceed to verbal duel, but are pulled apart by the referee.
Comical moment as Pedro tries to go past Chica, but instead gets dizzy from dribbling and falls on the ground. Espanyol are yet to threaten Victor Valdes's goal ...
Barcelona are passing the ball around comfortably, waiting for Espanyol's defence to show cracks.
Alves with a decent cross on the right after his delightful footwork saw him fool Chica. Amat was there, however, to head the ball away just ahead of ex-Valencia man David Villa.
Messi goes past two players before playing a disappointing through-ball for David Villa which is easily dealt with by Galan on the right side of Espanyol's defence.
Iniesta tries an optimistic 40-yard pass deep in Espanyol's half, but Pedro is way too far to catch up with the ball and it goes out for a goalkick.
Familiar sight as Daniel Alves is on the ground first clutching his teeth, then his neck unable to tell where he pretends to have taken an elbow by Luis Garcia.
Disappointing shot by the talented midfielder, and the ball flies wide. That was a good chance for the visitors.
Verdu wins a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area after a clumsy foul by Keita. Excellent chance for Callejon to try his shooting.
The first half begins ...
Espanyol: Kameni; Galan, Rodriguez, Amat, Chica; Callejon, Javier Lopez Rodriguez, Alonso; Verdu, Luis Garcia, Pablo Osvaldo.
Barcelona: Valdes; Alves; Pique, Puyol, Fomtas; Thiago Alcantara, Busquets, Keita; Messi, Afellay, Villa.
