The Seahorses are struggling in the bottom-three and desperately seek a win...
Cesena's struggle against relegation from Serie A continues as the Seahorses remain in the bottom-three. Massimo Ficcadenti's side are currently stationed second from bottom with just 12 points from 15 matches and come what may they are slated to end the year in the dropzone.
However, Cesena do have a game in hand as their match against Inter has been rescheduled because of the Italian and European champions' Club World Cup commitment. Nevertheless, given their form and their quality of players, they cannot afford to foster hope of an upset against the Nerazzurri and must look forward.
Cesena have won three league fixtures at home and will be hopeful of adding one more to their tally on Saturday evening as they host Cagliari. However, the Seahorses have not won in the league in their last four matches and have lost four of their last five competitive games at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.
Cagliari's primary objective this campaign still remains to avoid the drop but so far the Sardinians have been doing well indeed. After 16 rounds of matches in the Italian top flight, Roberto Donadoni's side are in the top half of the table with 20 points, just six off a European place.
While pushing for Europe would be a tad too massive for the Isolani, having outreached the relegation octopus by five points, they will be keen to pull themselves further away from the drop. Cagliari are in a good run of form as well, having won three of their last four league fixtures.
However, the Rossoblu's away form is a matter of concern as they have won just one of their eight matches on the road in Serie A.
Caserta and Piangerelli are out injured for the home side.
Nene is suspended for the Sardinians.
