Player Ratings: Milan 1-1 Catania

The visitors picked up a credible draw against the underwhelming Rossoneri. Goal.com rates the players on show...

    Christian Abbiati

Was busier than he would have expected tonight. Made a couple of decent saves in the first half but as beautiful as Capuano's goal was, he probably should have done better.

  • Daniele Bonera

Daniele Bonera Flop of the Match

Poor outing tonight as many of his passes failed to find the intended target. His crosses were sub-par and his attempts at goal left much to be desired.

  • Thiago Silva

    Thiago Silva

Shook off a thigh injury but did not look his best as he allowed Silvestre to sneak in behind him for what should have been Catania's second goal of the game. He lackadaisically gave the ball away to Lopez but was bailed out by the referee's whistle.

  • Alessandro Nesta

    Alessandro Nesta

You could have driven a 16-wheeler through the Milan defence in the first half but Nesta bounced back to have a decent second session. Did well to shut down Lopez in the last 45 minutes.

  • Luca Antonini
    149
    48
    2.50

    Luca Antonini

Was virtually encamped at times in Catania's side of the field but had no problems coming back to defend. Might have been the best of the bunch for an unconvincing Milan backline.

  • C. Seedorf
    159
    101
    2.50

    C. Seedorf

The Dutchman had an evening to forget as he spurned a couple of good opportunities, with the chance at the beginning of the second half being the most glaring miss.

  • Andrea Pirlo
    178

    Andrea Pirlo

The captain was poor by his usually lofty standards. His short range passing was below par and he gave the ball away cheaply on a number of occasions. Milan need more from their midfield maestro if they are to dethrone Inter.

  • Kevin-Prince Boateng

    Kevin-Prince Boateng

The Ghana international was handed his full Serie A debut tonight and he picked up where he left off midweek in the Champions League with another inspired performance. Quickly becoming a fan favourite at San Siro, he was the best Rossoneri player on the pitch. If his other 10 team-mates played with his passion, ambition and drive he showed tonight, the Rossoneri would have cruised to victory.

  • Filippo Inzaghi
    249

    Filippo Inzaghi

Deputised for the injured Pato and should have given Milan the lead in the 13th minute but missed an absolute sitter from six yards. Atoned for his mistake with the equaliser on the cusp of half-time although Catania thought he was offside.

  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic
    250

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Set up Inzaghi on a silver platter in the first half and his sweet back-heel gave Seedorf a golden opportunity to start the second session. He showed his near perfect control but he needs to score against teams like Catania.

  • Ronaldinho
    429
    172

    Ronaldinho Top of the Match

Had a tough time against Potenza on the right-hand side and seemed to be on a different wave-length than Ibrahimovic. He did set up Inzaghi's goal just before the first half ended. Cut a frustrated figure at times and looked for the referee to help him out on a number of occasions when he went to ground after failing to beat his marker.

  • Mariano Andújar

    Mariano Andújar

Made an excellent save on Seedorf at the beginning of the second half and did very well to take the ball off Inzaghi's shoelaces in the 66th minute. Assured and confident in his own area. No chance on the goal.

  • Alessandro Potenza

    Alessandro Potenza

Great tackle inside of his own area on Ronaldinho in the 23rd minute. Almost opened the scoring when he played a lovely one-two with Izco but Abbiati pushed his shot away. Great showing from the Italian defender who had Ronaldinho's number tonight.

  • Nicolás Spolli

    Nicolás Spolli

An under the radar type performance from the Argentine defender that will not have gone unnoticed by his coach Marco Giampaolo. Kept a close eye on Ibrahimovic and dealt with everything Milan threw his way especially in the tense first ten minutes of the second half.

  • Matías Silvestre
    19
    13

    Matías Silvestre

Missed a free header in the 35th minute that could have put Catania in the driver's seat and the visitors were punished for this miss when Inzaghi scored on the cusp of half-time. Still, did very well in what was a compact and effective backfour for the visitors.

  • Ciro Capuano
    65

    Ciro Capuano

Scored one of the prettiest goals will you ever see as he volleyed home from 30-plus yards to give the Elefanti the lead at the time. Did not shirk away from his defensive duties either. Will fondly remember this match for years to come.

  • Marco Biagianti
    16

    Marco Biagianti

Wasn't afraid to battle in the trenches and earned a yellow card along the way. Did well to render Seedorf and Pirlo ineffective.

  • Adrian Ricchiuti

    Adrian Ricchiuti

Very lively in the first half and peppered Abbiati's goal with shots from all sorts of ranges. He will be disappointed however with his miss on a dangerous Catania attack in the 29th minute. Hooked at the hour mark. Still, a solid showing.

  • Ezequiel Carboni
    18
    20

    Ezequiel Carboni

Put in a workman-like shift in midfield for Catania. Will have pleased Giampaolo with his no-nonsense performance.

  • Mariano Julio Izco

    Mariano Julio Izco

Played a good ball to Potenza to set up the defender in the first half and was the architect of Catania's sizzling showing in the first 45 minutes.

  • Giuseppe Mascara
    26
    18

    Giuseppe Mascara

The Italian sharp-shooter's set piece deliveries were on the money more often than not tonight. Wasn't afraid to shoot from distance in the second half.

  • Maxi López
    57
    23

    Maxi López

The Argentine striker looked dangerous in the final third whenever we had the ball at his feet. Faded in the second period although he always remained a threat as he pick-pocketed Thiago Silva only to have the chance nullified by the referee's whistle.
