19′ Mario Gomez

That's all from here - I hope you enjoyed tonight's coverage. Until next time, all the best.

Bayern will be satisfied to have won, and in such convincing manner. They were brilliant, and deserved their three-goal victory. They now are third in the Bundesliga standings, and are closing in on a Champions League spot.

Schalke will be very disappointed not to have put on a better performance as they prepare for the second leg of their Champions League tie with Manchester United. Their loss was a comprehensive one, and the dejected expression on Manuel Neuer's face speaks volumes.

FULL TIME!

90′
ROBBEN! Oh, nearly a fifth! Klose finds the Dutchman sprinting past the defensive line and the latter bears down on Neuer's goal, but can't quite bend his curling effort inside the far post.

89′
Papadopoulos and Badstuber provide some late entertainment as they tussle near the byline. There could have been bookings for both, instead play continues.

86′
KLOSE! Oh, so close! Robben slips a through ball to the veteran, who pushes his dribble past Neuer but out of play. Goal kick to Schalke.

85′
Substitution Thomas Müller Toni Kroos

85′
And now Muller is given a breather as Toni Kroos comes on as his replacement.

85′
Ribery is played into the right side of the box and cuts back to Muller, whose shot is deflected by Papadopoulos. Muller is first to the ball and finishes well inside the right post to complete his brace!

84′
Goal Thomas Müller

84′
TOOOOR MULLER MAKES IT 4-1!

83′
Substitution Mario Gomez Miroslav Klose

83′
Miroslav Klose is on now, replacing goal-scorer Gomez.

81′
Kluge has space at the edge of the box and appears to take the ball off his hand, but his shot sails over the bar nonetheless.

79′
Substitution Joel Matip Sergio Escudero

79′
Substitution for Schalke: Sergio Escudero replaces Matip

78′
Oh, what a let-off! Uchida sends in a cross and the Bayern centre-backs fail to clear; the ball flashes across the face of goal to Farfan, who restarts the play. Schalke showing a bit more bite now...

77′
Robben is in again but delays his flicked cross, and Papadopoulos does well to slide in and concede a corner.

75′
ROBBEN! GREAT SAVE NEUER! Two world class players go head-to-head and the goalkeeper wins the battle this time. Muller's lovely ball is taken down by Robben, who tries to fool the Germany #1 with a quick cut and low finish, but Neuer holds his ground and makes an excellent save.

73′
Jurado plays in Farfan, but Tymoshchuk (who has moved to central defence now) makes an excellent challenge to deny the Peruvian.

71′
Substitution Diego Contento Andreas Ottl

71′
Substitution for Bayern: Andreas Ottl replaces Contento. Curious to see where the holding midfielder will play, having replaced a left back.

70′
Farfan wins a free kick from Tymoshchuk, and Schalke are finally in their attacking half enjoying a good spell of possession...

67′
OFF THE LINE! Ribery leaves Uchida for dead and has his first shot punched clear by Neuer. Muller blasts the rebound towards goal, but Papadopoulos makes a good save to deny a goal.

66′
Contento, who has played quite well in the second half, gets forward on an overlapping run and wins a corner from Uchida. Schalke clear the resulting dead ball before conceding immediately once more.

64′
Scratch that - after a blocked shot and a through ball that rolled out of play, Butt has his first touch of the second half as he takes a goal kick.

63′
We're almost 18 minutes into the second half, and Bayern goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt has yet to touch the ball.

62′
Nothing much to see right now: Bayern are taking their time passing the ball around in midfield, and only occasionally moving forward.

60′
Neuer claims a cross and pushes Gomez away, prompting jeers from the home fans. Could this truly be a player on his way to the Allianz Arena in the next couple months?

56′
Muller fights to find his way to a loose ball in the box, but is called offside. Metzelder appeared to have done just enough to hold him off.

55′
MULLER! Good save by Neuer. Bayern are now getting a bit casual in front of goal: Ribery had cut back to Gomez, who could have shot but instead laid a poor ball off to Muller. The youngster moved into a better position, but his shot was never going to beat Neuer.

54′
The crowd cheers for Lahm, who does very well to hold off Jurado and win the ball back. He needed to, given that the Spaniard would have been unmarked and on his way towards goal had he slipped through.

53′
Van Buyten plays an excellent long ball from the back, but Papadopoulos makes a timely intervention to clear ahead of Ribery.

50′
Bayern are back to their slick-passing style once more, but the hosts have yet to reach their top gear. A frustrated Farfan drags Tymoshchuk to the ground.

48′
Neuer has been given quite an unkind reception as he switches sides. It really is inexplicable that some fans are so adamantly opposed to having arguably the world's best goalkeeper on their team...

46′
Substitution Hans Sarpei Alexander Baumjohann

46′
Substitution Raúl Edu

46′
AND WE'RE UNDERWAY ONCE MORE!

Ralf Rangnick makes two changes at the half: Edu replaces Raul, and Alexander Baumjohann comes on for Sarpei. The latter is quite a curious change: an attacking midfielder for a left back...

As of now, Bayern are back into third place with a two-point lead over Hannover as we approach the final two matches of the season. Will Schalke overturn their deficit? We'll find out in 15 minutes...

The first 20 minutes or so were filled with defensive mistakes, and Bayern capitalised on their opportunities with three good strikes. Schalke equalised, but had very little going forward, and their complete lack of defensive stability let them down.

HALF-TIME! Referee Peter Gagelmann blows his whistle, putting an end to the entertaining spectacle that was the first half.

44′
Typically aggressive defence by Neuer, who comes out of his box to take the ball off his chest and clear. Robben may have been in with a chance if not for the goalkeeper's intervention.

42′
RIBERY! Wide! Terrible play by Matip, who clumsily gives the ball away, allowing the Frenchman the chance to shoot from 25 yards. The shot is just a bit off target, though Neuer appeared to have it covered either way..

41′
Excellent back-tracking by Muller who wins the ball in his own half, and sets up a counter. The ball is played forward and Ribery is favoured to win it, but Papadopoulos holds him off and is whistled for a foul.

40′
Better from Farfan, who is released by Uchida but is tracked down by Contento before he can send in his cross. The Peruvian tries a ball into the box, but Bayern clear.

39′
Contento plays a glorious cross, but this time the Schalke defence manages to clear. Jurado counterattacks and beats one man before showing too much of the ball to Tymoshchuk, who intercepts.

37′
Yellow Card Jefferson Agustin Farfán

37′
Ribery asks whether Robben can beat Farfan to a through ball, and the Dutchman does just that. The winded and visibly frustrated Farfan commits a foul, then kicks the ball away to earn himself a booking.

35′
Players catching a breather now, it appears - there were a few very chaotic minutes...

33′
ROBBERY AGAIN! The pair are irresistible tonight! Robben is again inside the left of the penalty area, but his low cross is knocked out by Metzelder for a corner.

32′
Near another chance for Bayern as Ribery and Robben combine. The return pass to the Frenchman is over-struck, and Schalke clear.

30′
ROBBEN...OFF THE LINE! Unbelievable play by the Bayern attack! Ribery first flicks a clever ball to Muller. The Germany international then slips in a through ball to Robben, whose chip is over Neuer's head, but cleared by Metzelder!

28′
Clever play from the hosts at the edge of the penalty area as Robben bursts into the box before cutting back for Muller. The ball takes a bounce, however, and Muller sends it over the bar.

26′
Farfan and Kluge chase down Schweinsteiger, but the Bayern man does well to ride a couple challenges before winning a free kick. He appears motivated tonight after Robben's criticism of him earlier this week.

25′
Gomez, who has often found himself in wide positions this evening, wins the ball and pass to Muller, who crosses to Robben. The Dutchman takes a volley, but misses wide.

23′
TYMOSHCHUK! And now MULLER! Oh, it should have been four! Gomez first sends an excellent cross that Tymoshchuk can't quite redirect towards goal. Neuer then makes a good sliding tackle to send the ball wide. Moments later, Robben slips in Muller, but Neuer makes a characteristic reflex save to deny his young German compatriot.

22′
Now would be the right moment to comment on how important Benedikt Howedes is to this Schalke defence. There has been absolutely no organization at the back from the visitors as of yet, and they are being made to pay for it.

20′
Robben crosses to the unmarked Muller, who loops his header over the stranded Neuer. Gomez is waiting at the far post to tap in from inches away. 3-1 to Bayern it is!

19′
Assist Thomas Müller

19′
Goal Mario Gomez

19′
TOOOOOOOR MARIO GOMEZ MAKES IT 3-1!

18′
After three goals in the opening 13 minutes, the game has slowed down a bit. Schalke are passing between Neuer and the back four, promptting jeers from the fans.

16′
RIBERY! WIDE!!! Robben takes down a long ball with an immaculate first touch. He finds Muller, who sets up Ribery, but the Frenchman's effort is deflected just wide of the left post!

15′
A bit too clever from Ribery as he tries a cheeky back heel to Muller before the ball is cleared...

14′
Yellow Card Franck Ribéry

14′
Robben blasts the free kick into the wall, and after a couple deflections, Muller pounces to fire in the go-ahead goal from close range. Neuer is livid with his defence!

13′
Goal Thomas Müller

13′
TOOOOOR MULLER RESTORES BAYERN'S LEAD!

12′
Yellow Card Christoph Metzelder

12′
Robben is released and surges past Metzelder, who tugs him down at the very edge of the penalty box. That earns a booking for the Schalke defender, while Bayern have a free kick right of centre.

12′
PENALTY TO BAYERN? NO!

8′
Own Goal Holger Badstuber

8′
Assist Jefferson Agustin Farfán

8′
It's chaos in the penalty box for Bayern as Farfan delivers a cross towards the back post and Hans-Jorg Butt is in no-man's land. Joel Matip is free of Holger Badstuber and puts the ball in off his chest!

8′
TOR! MATIP DRAWS SCHALKE LEVEL!

6′
Assist Mario Gomez

6′
Goal Arjen Robben

6′
After missing the last two matches with suspension, the Dutchman makes up for his needless absence with a critical goal! Annan is robbed by Gomez on the right flank and the Germany international cuts back for Robben, who taps in from close range.

6′
TOOOOOOOOOOOR ROBBEN!

3′
Oh, near chance for Bayern! Matip makes an awful error as he allows Muller to take the ball off his foot. Ribery is bursting into the penalty box, but the Cameroonian is quick to recover and takes the ball away before the Frenchman can threaten Neuer's goal.

1′
Ribery gets the ball on the left and has Muller racing forward, but lets the ball get away and Kluge makes a good tackle to win the ball back.

1′
AND THE MATCH BEGINS!

We're approaching the restart now. Just a note before we begin: Matip's early equaliser for Schalke has been ruled an own goal by Holger Badstuber, who stuck his foot between his opponent's legs to redirect the ball into his own net.

The players are on the pitch and we're almost underway...

In spite of warnings from the Bayern management against it and the player's imminent arrival in Munich this summer, many of the home fans are holding "Koan Neuer" signs.

Good afternoon and welcome to Goal.com's coverage of Bayern Munich and Schalke. Borussia Dortmund are champions of Germany but the team they succeed Bayern Munich still have everything to play for as they chase the final Champions League spot. With Gladbach winning in Hannover, a victory this evening for Bayern would take them two points clear in third spot. Schalke will have ideas of their own as they seek to bounce back from being comprehensively outplayed by Manchester United in the Champions League semi-finals. I'm Clark Whitney and I'll be guiding you through all the action over the next couple of hours or so.
