The youngster was alert throughout, making a few impressive blocks. Gladbach rarely troubled his goal.

    Danijel Pranjic

The Croatian looked fairly decent defensively, keeping the usually lively Herrmann quiet- although he failed to provide the attacking threat that he is expected to bring to this Bayern side.

  • Holger Badstuber

    Holger Badstuber

An improved performance compared to recent weeks, dealing well with Hanke. Made a superb interception to stop Reus from opening the scoring although struggled a little when Idrissou entered the game late on.

  • Luiz Gustavo

    Luiz Gustavo

The Brazilian looked comfortable in the centre of defence although he will surely face sterner tests than that of Gladbach's attack. Showed some nice touches.

  • Philipp Lahm

After a quiet first-half, the Bayern captain was on top form going forward in the second period, bombing forward to provide extra width when possible.

  • Franck Ribéry

    Franck Ribéry

The Frenchman was a little off colour today although he did come close to opening the scoring with a curling effort before providing the assist for Robben's eventual opening and winning goal.

  • Toni Kroos

    Toni Kroos

The young German struggled to dictate play in the centre of the park with Gladbach working well to close down space. Improved as the game went on.

  • Thomas Müller

    Thomas Müller

Average game for the World Cup 2010 Golden Boot winner who did not see as much of the ball as he would have liked. A few nice touches here and there but failed to provide the trickery that is accustomed to his game.

  • Bastian Schweinsteiger

    Bastian Schweinsteiger

The German playmaker wasn't at his best this afternoon with Gladbach doing well to close him down quickly. A few misplaced passes early on did nothing for his confidence as he failed to pick up his performance.

  • Arjen Robben

Arjen Robben Top of the Match

Frustrating afternoon for the Dutchman who struggled at times to influence the game as much as he would have liked. However, when it really mattered the Dutch magician showed some excellent dribbling skills in the build up to his only goal of the game. Big goal too.

  • Mario Gomez

Mario Gomez Flop of the Match

The Bundesliga top-scorer was always looking for the ball although his first touch at times was poor. Missed several guilt-edge chances which could have proved costly for the Champions.

Came on for Kroos with 15 minutes to go and played fairly well, always looking for the forward ball.

The veteran striker looked lively when introduced into the game and came very close to adding a second when his low effort rebounded off the post.

  • Logan Bailly

    Logan Bailly

The Belgian shot-stopper had a fairly quiet game with Bayern not at their best. He did make a handful of decent stops but could do nothing about Robben's winner.

  • Filip Daems

    Filip Daems

Like his fellow full-back Jantschke, the Belgian did very well to limit his opponents, particularly keeping Robben quiet for the majority of the game.

  • Dante

    Dante

The Brazilian centre-half dealt with Gomez's threat brilliantly and kept the former Stuttgart striker well marked throughout the game.

  • Martin Stranzl

    Martin Stranzl

The Austrian defender looked impressive this afternoon. He provided a welcome presence to the Gladbach backline and made several great interceptions.

  • Tony Jantschke

    1.50

    Tony Jantschke

The full-back performed admirably against Ribery and Pranjic, keeping both men quiet down the wings and forcing the latter to come infield to find the ball.

  • Juan Fernando Arango

    1.50

    Juan Fernando Arango

The former Mallorca man had a quiet game, struggling to get involved in play especially as the game went on and Bayern began to dominate.

  • Roman Neustädter

    Roman Neustädter

The central midfielder was hard working while on the pitch and helped minimize Schweinsteiger and Kroos' influence on the game. His passing was decent too.

  • Marco Reus

    2.50

    Marco Reus

The highly-rated youngster looked lively when on the ball and created several half-chances for his team-mates. Would have hoped to have seen more of the ball.

  • Havard Nordtveit

    Havard Nordtveit

The Norwegian January signing looked good playing defensive midfield today. He put a shift in and helped keep the likes of Mueller quiet throughout.

  • Patrick Herrmann

    8
    2.00

    Patrick Herrmann

The winger had a decent game and looked good on the ball although unfortunately this was limited due to Bayern being in control of the majority of possession.

  • Mike Hanke

    Mike Hanke

The tall striker was often left isolated and was unable to hold the ball up efficiently when given the opportunity. Not a great performance.

    Karim Matmour

Showed a few nice touches in his half hour on the pitch but no improvement on Herrmann.
