Carroll has another effort at goal, with a cross coming from Routledge, but the striker's finish is deflected away by Nolan for another goal kick.
Newcastle continue to press forward, but Carroll cannot finish after Gutierrez finds him with a long ball into the box.
Tevez jinks his way into the box, but before he can get a shot off, Enrique puts a boot in and eventually clears the ball to safety.
Man City race forward with Yaya Toure finding Kolarov, but his cross is not enough to see City go three goals ahead.
Gutierrez finds Carroll inside the six yard box, but his strike goes wide and out for a goal kick to Man City.
Newcastle are starting to come more and more into the game with both Gutierrez and Routledge getting forward at will.

The home fans are unhappy that de Jong was allowed to get away with a challenge on Carroll that they felt was unfair.

Man City are still without long-term absentee Michael Johnson and suspended defender Kolo Toure, but Roberto Mancini welcomes back midfielder Nigel de Jong, who returns after suspension.
Newcastle are without the services of on-loan Hatem Ben Arfa who is still recovering from a broken leg, while Dan Gosling and Ryan Taylor are suffering from knee and ankle injuries.
