Olympique de Marseille 2-4 Toulouse: Le Tefece Defeat Ligue 1 Champions
Les Phoceens' mediocre pre-season results continue...
By Rick D'Andrea
Toulouse have defeated Olympique de Marseille 4-2 after the French champions had a 2-1 lead going into half-time in Bayonne.
Three second-half goals from Xavier Pentecote, Etienne Didot and Etienne Capoue helped le Tef dominate OM.
It was the away side who got off to the perfect start when midfielder Paulo Machado opened the scoring after eight minutes from a superbly taken free-kick. But their perfect start turned sour when defender Daniel Congre made the first of two defensive errors, conceding an own goal on 27 minutes.
Seven minutes later, it was midfielder Franck Tabanou who gave away a penalty, allowing Mamadou Niang to convert and make the scoreline 2-1.
After the interval, it was TFC who was eager to reverse the score, starting the brighter. Striker Pentecote brought life back into the game, equalising on 57 minutes after cheekily chipping Marseille goalkeeper Elinton Andrade.
Didot then gave his side the lead on 64 minutes, when the midfielder shot the ball past Andrade to make it 3-2.
Capoue rounded off the match by scoring in the 83rd minute.
Both teams chose to play second-string squads, with a host of World Cup players not called to partake in this match.
