It's all over! Blackburn in 2000, Crystal Palace in 2003, Burnley in 2005, Barnsley in 2008 and now Reading in 2010. Liverpool have been knocked out the cup by lower league opponents for the fifth time in 11 years. But credit has to be given to Reading, Simon Church was fantastic up front, closing down the Reds defenders and supplying great crosses for Rasiak in the first half of normal time. Reading have claimed an unbelievable win here at Anfield. Who would have thought I would be saying that on 89 minutes!?! Reading now host Burnley in the fourth round hoping for another victory over a top flight side. Thanks for joining me tonight.
Lucas heads well wide from eight yards out. He was in an offside position but he still should have done better. He have two minutes of added time.
Yellow Card Brynjar Gunnarsson
Gunnarsson is booked for taking far too long to take a free kick on the halfway line.
Appeals for a penalty again for Liverpool. Benayoun's header hits Ingimarsson on the chest and referee Phil Dowd makes the correct decision.
Kuyt involved again. His right footed chipped pass tries to find Ngog but the ball is too long for the Frenchman to latch onto and Reading have a goal kick.
Babel flicks the ball onto Kuyt who cuts in from the right but his low right footed strike rolls into the arms of Adam Federici.
Carragher has a try from 30 yards. He drifts forward unmarked and the ball is cleared to his feet but his right footed half volley is sliced and flies wide. Carragher nowhere near scoring his fifth Liverpool goal there.
Claims for a penalty for Liverpool. Benayoun tumbles to the ground following a challenge with Ingimarsson but the referee waves play on.
Liverpool kick off the second half of extra time.
Yellow Card Ivar Ingimarsson
Goal Shane Long
Substitution Philipp Degen Martin Skrtel
Half-time in extra time. Liverpool desperately need a goal in this second half to save thair season.
Benayoun almost scores for Liverpool! One-on-one with Federici, following Aquilani's aerial through ball, the Israeli is through on goal but he fluffs his lines and striker straight at the Royals keeper.
Reading were the side urgently trying to find a goal at the end of normal time and how quickly things have changed. Liverpool are now the side frantically moving the ball forwards in search of a much needed equaliser.
GOAL! Long scores for Reading! Gunnarsson plays the ball through the legs of Insua for the second time in the game and he then looks up before delivering a superb cross into the six yard box and Shane Long is there to head past a stranded Diego Cavalieri. 2-1! An upset on the cards perhaps.
Insua makes a strong run through the centre of the pitch and when disposessed the ball finds the feet of Ryan Babel who uses his power to shrug off his marker but fires straight at Adam Federici left footed from just inside the box.
The free kick is laid off to Agger whose left footed strike is turned past the post by Federici.
Kuyt earns a free kick on the edge of the box. Sigurdsson trips the Dutchman and he appears go down in instalments but there was definitely contact.
Reading kick off the first half of extra time. Skrtel has replaced Degen with Carragher moving out to right back.
Full-time. Another 30 minutes to go. Just when Liverpool were looking comfortable on the ball and having the better of the chances referee Phil Dowd awards a penalty to Reading. Yossi Benayoun appeared to kick the ankle of Shane Long and he looked gutted to be the man to allow Reading the chance to draw level.
GOAL! Sigurdsson converts the penalty for Reading! Yossi Benayoun collided with Long in the box to give the penalty to Reading. Sigurdsson coolly slots into the left hand corner as Cavalieri dives the other way to give Reading a lifeline! It's up for grabs now!!
Penalty Goal Gylfi Sigurdsson
PENALTY TO READING!
Late chance for Reading. Sigurdsson's curling shot from just outside the penalty area almost finds the far corner but Cavalieri does well to get down quick enough to push the ball away.
Appeals for a penalty at the Kop end. Dirk Kuyt attempted driven cross from just inside the right side of the Reading penalty area strikes the arm of Ryan Bertrand. Phil Dowd waves play on. In fairness to Bertrand, the ball came in quickly and it was difficult for him to move out the way in time.
Reading are trying desperately hard to make this game go into extra time. Every chance they get they are playing the ball quickly upfield in the hope of stealing a late goal.
Church heads over from 12 yards. Gunnarsson plays the ball through Agger's legs before crossing for Church who escapes Jamie Carragher to head over from 12 yards out.
Kebe's cross from the left wing is well cut out by Agger who heads the ball out for a Reading throw.
Substitution Jem Karacan Shane Long
What a chance for Reading! Jobi McAnuff runs from the halfway line before skipping past Carragher and Agger among others, he then finds himself one-on-one with Cavalieri but his low right footed shot goes inches wide of the far post. That would have been one of the greatest FA Cup goals of all time!
Aquliani whips in a free-kick from the right wing and the ball skims the head of Matthew Mills and goes out for a throw-in but the referee doesn't see the touch by Mills and gives a Reading throw.
Howard attempts an audacious striker from 25 yards out. The ball sits up for him after Lucas' challenge but Howard's left footed volley is weak and is confortably dealt with by Cavalieri.
Meanwhile, Peter Lovenkrands has scored a hat-trick in tonight's only other FA Cup tie. Newcastle United are now 3-0 up against Plymouth Argyle.
Poor header from Aquilani. Neat play again from Benayoun on the left hand side as he dinks the ball into the box and finds the onrunning Alberto Aquilani but his header from around 8 yards out is met with ironic cheers from the Reading fans as the ball goes well wide.
Liverpool ae looking a lot more comfortable this half. Yossi Benayoun is pulling the strings in the final third, cutting in from the left hand side. He's played a number of one-two's to allow him to escape his marker and one of them is bound to pay off sooner or later.
Great chance for Reading. Sigurdsson's free-kick from the right wing is almost met by the Royals captain Ingimarsson but he misjudges the flight of the ball and fails to make contact with the ball.
Another change for Reading. Jimmy Kebe comes on to replace Rasiak. Reading will now go with a 4-4-1 formation with Kebe playing wide left and Sigurdsson playing just behind Church.
Substitution Grzegorz Rasiak Jimmy Kebe
Free-kick in a great position for Liverpool. On the edge of the box Ingimarsson obstructs Babel from running onto Benayouns neat pass. Aquilani's curling free-kick hits the Reading wall and Agger follows up with a left footed striker but he scuffs his shot wide.
Benayoun attempts a one-two with Dirk Kuyt but the Israeli is not strong enough to get past Brynjar Gunnarsson who allows the ball to roll into the hands of Adam Federici.
A change for Reading. Midfielder Kalifa Cisse is replaced by Brian Howard, the man who scored that famous goal for Barnsley against Liverpool in their 2-1 victory over the Reds back in 2008.
Substitution Kalifa Cissé Brian Howard
Great play from the home side. Philipp Degen makes a terrific darting run through the centre of the pitch before laying the ball off to Dirk Kuyt, he then plays in Yossi Benayoun but his right footed shot is poor and Federici saves.
A statistic that provides some hope for Reading fans. The Royals have scored in each of their last ten away matches.
Yellow Card Philipp Degen
Philipp Degen is booked for a silly dive inside the box. He skips past Bertrand and tries to fool referee Phil Dowd into giving a penalty but he isn't having any of it and promptly gives the right-back a yellow card.
Good play from Liverpool. Decent passing between Aquilani and Benayoun on the edge of the box results in the Reds earning a corner. Aquilani goes short for the corner and whips in a decent ball towards Kuyt but his extravagant left footed side volley goes over.
Ingimarsson fouls Kuyt around 30 yards out. As the Dutchman attempts to race past the Royals captain he i brough down and earns a free kick in a decent position. Agger's free kick gets caught up in the wall and Reading clear.
Liverpool are out late for the second half and perhaps Gerrard's change was a last minute decision. Ryan Babel had sat down on the subs bench and was quickly told he had to start the second half. News that Gerrard has picked up a slight thigh strain and has been substituted, much like Torres, as a precautionary measure.
Substitution Steven Gerrard Ryan Babel
Liverpool kick off for the second half. One change at half-time. It's unclear why but Steven Gerrard has had to go off for the Reds and he is replaced by Ryan Babel. On the transfer front, after allowing Andriy Voronin and Andrea Dossena to leave Anfield to join Dinamo Moscow and Napoli respectively, Benitez has today signed Maxi Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid. The £1.5million man was unveiled to the crowd before the game and in the stands watching tonight.
A correction on the goal. It appears as though it was Ryan Bertrand who turned the ball past his own goalkeeper.
Half-time at Anfield. Just as I was preparing to write about Reading seriously having a chance of winning the game, Ingimarsson put through his own net and now it seems as the Royals have a big job on their hands if they are going to turn this game around.
GOAL! Just as half time is approaching Liverpool get their goal. Gerrard's corner is cleared but only as far as the captain's feet and he jinks past a Reading defender before clipping the ball across the penalty area where Ingimarsson turns the ball into his own net.
Goal Steven Gerrard
Yellow Card Matthew Mills
Matthew Mills is booked for Reading. He brings down Yossi Benayoun after the Israeli attempts to skip past him. Benayoun was just too clever for him.
Wasted chance from Sigurdsson. The centre backs run forward for a free kick which is central around 40 yards out from goal but Sigurdsson's free kick flies over everybody for a goal kick.
An update on Fernando Torres' injury. It's a knee problem but he was only taken off as a precautionary measure and it's not too serious.
Fantastic effort from Benayoun. Philipp Degen's attacking run from the right is good and as he cuts inside he passes to Benayoun who curls his shot inches wide of the far post from 20 yards out.
Lucas tries an aerial through ball to find David Ngog but his pass from inside the centre circle is poor and the ball runs through to Federici.
Much like the first match between these two sides, Liverpool are struggling to break Reading down. And Liverpool are partial to the odd slip up against lower league opposition. Four times in the last ten seasons the Reds have been knocked out of the FA Cup by a side in a lower divison.
Benayoun attempts a mazy run through the Reading midfield but he is stopped in his tracks by Kalifa Cisse and the Royals break with the ball. They quickly counter attack and Jem Karacan goes on a similar run before Jamie Carragher cuts out his attempted pass through to Rasiak.
Philipp Degen goes in a little strong on Jem Karacan but the midfielder is back on his feet and Reading earn a free kick on the left wing. The free kick is poor and doesn't get past the first man.
Now this is a massive blow for Liverpool. Fernando Torres limps off and is replaced by David Ngog. The Spaniard doesn't look too injured so it is probably just precautionary.
Substitution Fernando Torres David Ngog
Simon Church is having a great game for Reading and his workrate is magnificent. Unfortunately for clubs who were looking to sign him on a free transfer in the summer, the Welshman signed a new three-and-a-half year deal on Monday.
Superb play from Simon Church. He is again beats Insua to the ball and races past the left-back to swing in a low cross towards Grzegorz Rasiak in the six yard bos but the Poland striker fails to make contact with his diving header and the ball goes off for a goal kick.
Lucas plays a decent ball through trying to find the run of Philipp Degen but Inigimarsson beats the Switzerland international to the ball and clears for a corner.
Great chance for Reading. Church beats Insua to the ball in the left back position and swings a ball towards Rasiak but Carragher, who is in front of him, decides not to clear the ball and Rasiak unexpectedly striker at goal but he scuffs his left footed shot wide of the far post.
Gerrard's right footed inswinging cross from the right is headed upwards by Ingimarsson but he eventually deals with it, heading back to Adam Federici, who incidently has been linked with a £2million to Liverpool this week.
The whole country seems to be on the back of Alberto Aquilani. He has hardly featured since his £20million move from Roma in the summer due to injury and his every move on the football pitch is heavily scrutinised. Tonight he seems more settled with the help of Gerrard sitting in front of the two holding midfielders and he has shown some decent touches.
Philipp Degen earns a free kick for Liverpool on the right side of the Reading penalty area. He is bundled to the ground by Sigurdsson who was working hard to track back. The free kick is cleared by Reading.
Dirk Kuyt is down and receiving treatment. He went in for a challenge with Jem Karacan and the Royals midfielder looks to have gone in a bit too strong on the Dutch international.
Another chance for Reading. McAnuff's pass from the right wing finds Simon Church, who appears to handle the ball, but referee Phil Dowd allows play to continue before the Welshman turns his marker, Daniel Agger, and fires a shot into the arms of Cavalieri.
Good effort from Gylfi Sigurdsson. His right footed free kick 25 yards out curls over the wall and stand-in goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri does well to turn the ball wide of the post.
A wasted opportunity for the Reds. After some neat build up play Aquilani is found on the right side of the penalty area but his left footed chipped cross is awful and goes off for a Reading throw in.
As Gylfi Sigurdsson looks to latch onto a long ball down field, Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher cleverly plays the ball of the shins of the Iceland international to earn a goal kick.
Good defending from Reading captain Ivar Ingimarsson. Gerrard's ball in from the right looks set to find Benayoun running onto the ball but The Royals skipper gets a toe to it and concedes a corner. Meanwhile, Jem Karacan is booked for a poorly timed tackle on Steven Gerrard.
Yellow Card Jem Karacan
First taste of the ball for Fernando Torres, he sets Gerrard away on the right wing before playing the ball to Aquilani but his forward pass is cut out by Matthew Mills and the move breaks down.

The winner of tonight’s match have been handed a home tie with Burnley, who have today appointed former Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws as their new manager.
Reading go into tonight’s match without a manager, since Brendan Rodgers’ sacking in December, reserve team manager Brian McDermott has taken temporary charge and he will be looking for his first win tonight after three draws and a defeat.
With Arsenal going well in the Premier League, still in the FA Cup, and through to the Champions League knockout stages, Liverpool could soon be singled out as the big four side on a long trophyless run. The Reds have not won a major trophy since Steven Gerrard almost singled-handedly won the FA Cup against West Ham United in 2006.
The first match between the two sides finished 1-1. Steven Gerrard spared Liverpool’s blushes cancelling out Simon Church’s opener with a curling effort from 25 yards out. Neither side have played since then as their weekend matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were both postponed.
