It's all over here at the San Siro as it has finished 1-1 between Milan and Napoli. It has been a scintillating game with loads of chances at either end. Milan looked the better and more hungry side in the second session but couldn't take their chances. The Rossoneri remain second in Serie A, a point behind leaders Inter. From me and the rest of the Goal.com team here in Milan, it's goodbye for now.
We have played two minutes of injury time now. Two more minutes remain.....
Thiago Silva whips in a cross from the right side but the ball is cleared away. Napoli are living on the edge of time, as it were.....
Four minutes of injury time have been added......
Andrea Pirlo!!!!!!!!!!! The Italian international curls a freekick from 30 yards that went straight to De Sanctis but the Napoli goalkeeper made a mess of it and couldn't catch it. However, the Napoli defenders saved him on this one.
Substitution Marek Hamsik Germán Denis
....And if a goal does indeed arrive, then it is likely to be a Milan goal. Napoli have attacked at times in this second half but the Rossoneri have been the more dominant side. Oh, as we speak, they have launched yet another attack on the Napoli goal, but have been fended off yet again.
Five minutes of regular time remain. Is there a goal in here at San Siro?
Maggio goes off and on comes Dossena for Napoli.
Milan earn a corner kick but it doesn't yield any fruits. Milan are looking desperate to find the winner, that will take them to the top of the table in Serie A.
Substitution Christian Maggio Andrea Dossena
Substitution C. Seedorf Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
Milan coach Leonardo has decided to make a change. Midfielder Clarence Seedorf has been taken off and he has been replaced by his compatriot Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, a striker.
Yellow Card Nicolas Amodio
Napoli appear to be struggling with Ronaldinho's tricks as Walter Gargano brings down the Brazilian on the left side.
Yellow Card Ronaldinho
Seedorf finds Ronaldinho in the centre from the left and the Brazilian floats in a brilliant cross over the top of the Napoli defence into the Azzurri penalty area but it is headed out for a corner. The corner, though, turns out to be fruitless in the end.
15 minutes remain in this match. The second had had everything you could ask from a game of football, except a goal. It would appear that whichever side score the next goal, they will win the game and bag three important points.
Substitution Fabio Quagliarella Luca Cigarini
MANCINI!!!!!! Seedorf finds the Brazilian on the right inside the Napoli area but on-loan player from Inter fails to find the target. He could have put the ball across the face of the Napoli goal as Pippo Inzaghi was waiting. Great chance for Milan and one that the Rossoneri could be forced to rue in the end.
Now Abbiati makes a great save! Pazienza chips the ball into the Milan penalty area and it eventually finds it way to Quagliarella but just before the former Udinese striker is about to take his shot, Abbiati makes a great challenge and clears the ball away.
Pippo!!!! Inzaghi comes close to scoring his second goal of the afternoon as Andrea Pirlo releases him with a quick freekick inside the Napoli 18-yard box but De Sanctis gathers the ball in a hurry to keep the score 1-1.
Milan still hold the upperhand but the tempo of the game appears to have shaved off a bit.
Yellow Card Gianluca Grava
Paolo Cannavaro saves Napoli this time as Mancini's cross from the right inside the Azzurri penalty area bounces dangerously. But the Italian centre-back clears away the danger. The Rossoneri clearly have the upperhand and Napoli are collapsing at the back. Could Milan score a goal in this spell?
Quagliarella!!!! Lavezzi again runs his way into the Milan backline on the left and carves in a brilliant cross but the Italian international striker's header is off-target.
Pippo Inzaghi is brought down about 30 yards from the Napoli goal and is that a red card for the defender who pulled him down? No, no....The referee deems that the Italian veteran was in an offside position.
Yellow Card Mathieu Flamini
30 minutes remain in this game and a goal seems to be on its way.
Morgan De Sanctis!!!! What a world class save from the Napoli custodian! Luca Antonini, who has just come on, releases Ronaldinho on the left. The Brazilian then jingles his way past a Napoli defender and crafts in a cross for Inzaghi, who gets his shot in, but De Sanctis makes a brilliant save with his body.
Substitution Massimo Oddo Luca Antonini
Ronaldinho!!!!!!!!!!!! The Brazilian master jingles past a host of static Napoli defenders into the Azzurri penalty area and whips in a cross with his back towards the goal. The Napoli backline is thrown into sixes and sevens and Milan's eventually shot is blocked and eventually cleared away.
It is still end-to-end action here at San Siro. Napoli are giving away the ball cheaply and are leaving themselves open to counterattacks. On the other hand, Milan are looking susceptible at the fullback positions.
Milan launch a counter-attack as Thiago Silva tries to do a Lucio and take on the entire Napoli defence by himself. But the Brazilian centre-back is stopped in his track before he makes any kind of damage.
WHAT A MISS!!! Zambrotta picked out Seedorf on the left side from a throw-in and the Dutch veteran whipped in a cross across the face of the Napoli goal that two Milan players failed to put a touch on. This should have resulted in a goal but it still remains Milan 1-1 Napoli.
Inzaghi was fouled in the very first minute of the second half on the right side and he has been brought down again in the same area, this time by Paolo Cannavaro, the brother of the legendary Fabio. Cananvaro is shown the yellow card but nothing comes out of the freekick.
Yellow Card Paolo Cannavaro
Fabio Quagliarella appears to have hurt himself and German Denis is seen warming up on the sidelines.
It has been a pacy start again as both sides are still showing signs of going upfront and scoring the third goal of the match.
And so we start the second half as Napoli get us underway.....
It is half time here at San Siro and it is 1-1 between Milan and Napoli. It has been a sensational match so far with both sides having chances. Join us in 15 minutes for what promises to be a scintillating 45 minutes of football.
It is almost halftime here but both sides are still fighting for a goal. Seedorf just found himself with the ball inside the Napoli penalty area but he couldn't craft in a decent cross.
Ronaldinho comes close again as he heads a corner at the near post. But his header sails wide. The Rossoneri seem to have revitalised themselves after scoring the equaliser.
Andrea Pirlo saves a Napoli attempt from a corner off the line!
Ronaldinho didn't look to be much in the game until Milan scored the equaliser. The Brazilian wizard now seems to be in full rhythm.
Ronaldinhho takes a shot at the Napoli goal but Morgan De Sanctis makes a comfortable save! The Brazilian got the better of Grava in the midfield, passed it to Oddo on the right, received the pass on the edge of the Napoli area and unleashed a ferocious shot that was saved by De Sanctis.
Ezequiel Lavezzi lofts in a cross from the left side and it is dangerously close to Abbiati but the Milan custodian makes a good save.
What a wonderful skill by Ronaldinho! He takes a quick turn and leaves Gianluca Grava on the his backside. The Brazilian then runs with the ball down the left but he is eventually smothered by no fewer than four defenders. So four men needed to tackle the Brazilian legend...makes you think.....
Marek Hamsik goes for a long range effort but it sails wide.
Fabio Quagliarella goes for the chip from just outside the Milan penalty area but Abbiati makes an easy save.
Half an hour gone in the first half and what a game of football it has been! End-to-end stuff and there are people who still think that Italian football is boring.....
Milan seem to have grown optimistic again. They have been battered by Napoli's pace and momentum but the equaliser must have helped to cool their nerves. Can Leonardo's side score once again in this half?
GOAL!!!!!!!! Milan score and restore parity and who else but the arguably the greatest goalpoachers of all time.... Ronaldinho curled in a wonderfully floated cross from the left side with his right foot and Filippo Inzaghi headed home after shrugging off his marker Leandro Rinaudo. It is 1-1 between Milan and Napoli here now.
Goal Filippo Inzaghi
Napoli certainly have had the better chances as Lavezzi has torn apart the Milan backline with his pace. It isn't long before Napoli score their second goal, it would seem at the moment.
Two quick chances for Milan as Inzaghi comes close. But Napoli eventually get the ball cleared away. The home side are finding it difficult to cope with the pace of Napoli, and especially the pace of Lavezzi.
Abbiati!! What a save from the Milan custodian! Napoli launch a quick counter attack and Lavezzi finds himself surrounded by three Rossoneri shirts about ten yards from the Milan area. He places the ball to the right and when the cross is whipped in, the Argentine tries volley at the near post that Abbiati saves marvelously! What a game this is turning out to be!
NAPOLI!!!!!! The Azzurri almost score their second goal of the match with two successive attempts on goal! Lavezzi whipped in a cross from the right that Quagliarella couldn;t control inside the Milan six-yard-box but the ball eventually fell to the Argentine striker, who then did the same thing but the ball was eventually cleared by the Milan defenders.
The pace has tempered down a bit as Milan are trying to regroup themselves after conceding the goal.
We have played a quarter of an hour here at the San Siro and although Milan have had the more number of chances, it is Napoli who have scored. Can the Rossoneri find a way back?
Double blow for Milan. Pato has been pulled out of the match and Mancini has been brought on. Another injury problem for the young Brazilian.....?
Substitution Alexandre Pato Mancini
GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Napoli score a wonderful goal to take the lead here at San Siro with their first shot on goal! Michele Pazienza ran with the ball down the right, released Ezequiel Lavezzi inside the Milan penalty area on the right and with all the Milan defenders flocking towards the Argentine, Lavezzi placed a pass to an unmarked Hugo Campagnaro in front of the goal and the Napoli defender scored his first goal of the season. It's Milan 0-1 Napoli.
Goal Hugo Campagnaro
Hugo Campagnaro! The Napoli defender clears away a dangerous right-wing Milan cross with his head. Milan are looking very threatening down the wings but surprisingly star player Ronaldinho has not been in the game so far.
Thiago Silva!! A marvelous attempt on the Napoli goal from the Brazilian centre-back from outside the penalty area but his shot is deflected for a corner.
Alexandre Pato!!!!!!!! Filippo Inzaghi gets the ball in the midfield and releases Pato on the right. The Brazilian international striker then whips in a cross that is cleared for a corner. Great stuff from the Rossoneri.
Wasted effort from Napoli. Lavezzi was released down the right and he brought the likes of Hamsik, Maggio and Quagliarella into play in front of the Milan penalty box but the final shot from Pazienza is disappointing. He was probably looking for a teammatebut his shot (or whatever he meant) went out harmlessly.
Quagliarella! He gets the ball on the left side inside the Milan penalty area and takes a shot at the near post of the Milan goal but Christian Abbiati makes a good save.
Milan play a good game in the midfield as Pato, Seedorf, Flamini and Oddo all combine. In the end Oddo forces a corner but the corner is eventually headed away. Terrific start to the game here in Milan, two sides whose strengths are in their attackline.
Argentina striker Ezequeil Lavezzi is released inside the Milan penalty area from the right side but he is well shrugged off the ball by Thiago Silva.
And here we start as Milan get us underway here at the San Siro.....
It promises to be a hugely entertaining match and both teams will be going for maximum points. Napoli are still in with a chance to qualify for a Champions League spot.
