FULL-TIME! All over at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea have nicked all three points courtesy of a Didier Drogba double! A perfect start for new coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The chances are flying in now. First Lampard goes flying in the box, but no penalty. Then Hull roar up the other end and force Cech into making a save. Back down the other end, the action goes, with Kalou curling a shot just wide!
The ball is worked out to the left and Deco slips in Drogba. He's at a very narrow angle but somehow manages to dink it over Myhill and into the net! Brilliant, brilliant goal!!
Yellow Card Didier Drogba
Goal Didier Drogba
Gooooooooooal! Chelsea have surely won it right at the end! Drogba makes it 2-1!!
Into stoppage time now and a very hopeful shot by Chelsea almost brings rewards. The ball comes to Drogba in the box but his shot is blocked! Into SIX MINUTES of stoppage time! Phil Brown can't believe it!!
Great save Cech! Hull break with Folan he sprints down the right before crossing. The ball takes a deflection and looks to be looping over Cech and into the net but the keeper just manages to tip it over the bar!
Chelsea win a corner which Lampard takes. He curls the ball into Carvalho who heads comfortably over the bar. The Blues are running out of time...
A small break in play here as Petr Cech receives treatment for what looks like a hand injury. He looks like he will be OK to continue.
Ashley Cole brings down Ghilas and Hull have a free kick which is whipped in by Dawson. The first ball is cleared but it's knocked in again. A nervous punch by Cech doesn't quite get it way but Drogba completes the clearance.
Hull are starting to look a little tired as we reach the closing stages, and who can blame them, it's been a huge effort from Phil Brown's men. Chelsea have a little under 10 minutes to try and grab a winner.
Just over the bar by Kalou with his first touch! Chelsea break quickly again. The ball comes down the right with Deco and is crossed to Kalou in the middle. He's stretching but still gets his head on it and it whistles just over!
Michael Ballack is the latest player to have a shot for the home side. The German smashes an effort well wide, it takes a deflection to be fair off Dawson but the referee doesn't see and awards a goal kick. Cue furious protests to no avail by the boys in blue.
Substitution Nicolas Anelka Salomon Kalou
Substitution Bernard Mendy Geovanni
It's Geovanni time! Just over 10 minutes to go and the Tigers decide to bring on their Brazilian, Mendy is the man to make way.
Good save Myhill! Bosingwa does brilliantly, beating two men down the right before firing in a low shot but the Tigers' stopper deflects it around the post for a corner.
Great strike by Essien! Drogba picks out the midfielder some 30 yards from goal but fairly centrally. Essien then thumps a shot which flies fractionally wide, although a diving Myhill may just have had it covered.
Substitute Ghilas almost makes an instant impression for Hull. He picks up the ball on the left and crosses for Folan but Chelsea just get the ball away ahead of the striker.
Barmby goes in high on Ashley Cole and picks up a yellow card for his troubles. Meanwhile Stephen Hunt is substituted to the sounds of great jeers (and some cheers from the Hull fans). Chelsea are also making a change with Deco on for Malouda.
Substitution Florent Malouda Deco
Substitution Stephen Hunt Ghilas
Yellow Card Nick Barmby
Nearly a chance for Hull! The ball comes to Hunt in acres of space on the left. He dinks in a cross to Folan who heads it down to Boateng but Carvalho and Terry do well to crowd him out and the chances vanishes.
Great tackle by Gardner! Chelsea are coming forward in numbers now, and even John Terry is joining the attack! After some scrappy play the ball comes to Lampard in the box. He looks to turn and then shoot but Garnder does brilliantly to take the ball off him and clear.
Another great chance for Ancelotti's side! Bosingwa finds Malouda and he sweeps in a super cross but nobody, including a diving Michael Ballack, can get a touch on it!
Chances at both ends here. First Barmby and Mendy combine but the cross is overhit and Cech claims. The action then switches to the other end and a beautiful pass by Anelka finds Drogba but he just miscontrols in the box and the chance goes begging.
HOW DID CHELSEA NOT SCORE! A corner in from the left causes all sorts of chaos in the Hull defence! First Terry has a shot blocked, then Anelka and then Carvalho! The danger isn't cleared properly though and Terry heads down to Drogba who smashes a shot straight at Myhill from close range!
The Blues have begun this half very strongly, but then again the same could be said of the first half. Hull will be hoping they can just see out this early pressure.
Good tackle by Dawson! The Blues find Anelka sprinting into the box with the ball but he's got Dawson for company. The striker is just about to shoot when the defender gets a tackle in to deny the Frenchman.
More Chelsea pressure sees Lampard win the ball back in midfield before finding Anelka. He slips it out wide to Malouda who crosses but Myhill claims. Hull then break with Hunt but he is tackled and Chelsea regain possession.
The home side win a free kick which is curled in but Myhill punches clear. However, the ball comes back to Lampard on the edge of the box and he hits a shot at the near post and it's inches wide!
Substitution John Obi Mikel Michael Ballack
Welcome back to Stamford Bridge. One change to tell you about. Michael Ballack has replaced John Obi Mikel for the home side. Otherwise it's as we were as Hull kick off the second half. GREAT CHANCE FOR CHELSEA in the opening seconds as Drogba feeds Anelka in the box. The striker just has Myhill to beat but sidefoots it straight at the keeper!!
HALF-TIME! That's it 1-1 at the break with Chelsea having to recover from going a goal down. Can they grab a second to claim all three points? Join me after the break to find out...
Yellow Card Bernard Mendy
Mendy crunches into Malouda and picks up the first yellow card of the afternoon.
Into three minutes of stoppage time at the end of the first-half...
Substitution Dean Marney Nick Barmby
The Tigers are forced into a change before the break. Dean Marney is hobbling off and will be replaced by the ever green Nick Barmby.
Lovely stuff by Drogba. The home side break and Mikel finds Drogba. A little drag back sees him beat his man and he storms forward before smashing a shot, but again it's just too close to the goalkeeper!
Good shot by Essien! The Blues are in search of that second goal before the break. After some decent possession the ball comes to Essien outside the box. He fires a decent, low shot in but it's too close to Myhill who is down quickly to claim.
Super strike by the Chelsea striker. The Blues win a free kick some 20 yards from goal but fairly central. Drogba steps up, pokes it over the wall and then low into the corner past the despairing dive of Myhill!
Goal Didier Drogba
Gooooooooooooall! It's 1-1 and Drogba grabs the equaliser for Chelsea!
Decent response by the home side with Bosingwa whipping a couple of crosses in but Hull are defending well. Then, Drogba picks up possession on the left, cuts inside and unleashes a fierce shot straight at Myhill.
That debut goal for Hunt means he is even more disliked in west London! His every touch was already being roundly booed but since the goal the volume has gone up a notch or two!
Almost an instant response by the home side. The ball finds Drogba in the box and he spins but fires wide!
Goal Stephen Hunt
What a shocker! A long ball up-field causes problems for the home side. Boateng takes it down and shoots but his effort is blocked, however, the ball falls to Hunt who calmly knocks it into an empty net!!
Gooooooooooooooalll! Would you believe it! Hull have scored and Stephen Hunt bags the opener!
Lovely play by Chelsea almost carves the Tigers wide open with Lampard and Drogba combining to set up Malouda to shoot but it's blocked. Instead they have to settle for a corner and Lampard finds Essien at the far post and he's inches away from heading Chelsea into the lead.
Mid-way through the first half and still goalless at the Bridge. Chelsea have seen far more of the ball but aside from an early chance for Drogba haven't really worked Myhill in the visitors' goal.
The home side win another free kick. Again it's Lampard who curls the ball in but again Hull defend well and get the ball clear.
Good defending Chelsea! A corner to Hull this time and although Terry heads clear the ball is thumped back in and a combination of Cech and Essien manage to block the effort over the bar!
So close for Chelsea! A corner to the Blues from the right finds the skipper and Terry gets a flicked header on it but the ball whizzes just over the bar! Good effort.
Good chance for Hull! Hunt out wide on the left curls in a decent cross and finds Marney but he can't keep his header down and the ball sails harmlessly over the bar.
The visitors just seem to have weathered the early Chelsea storm and have settled into this game. Chelsea are still seeing far more of the ball but are finding Hull's packed midfield difficult to penetrate.
First chance of the game for Hull. The ball is worked infield to Boateng who does really well to keep possession before poking a shot towards Cech, but it flashes past the post and wide.
Marney brings Malouda down and Chelsea have a free-kick. Lampard pumps it into the box but Turner heads clear and the visitors earn some brief respite.
It is all Chelsea in these opening minutes as Mikel, finding himself in acres of space, opts to thumps a low shot wide. The home side are monopolising possession and Hull simply haven't got going yet.
More Chelsea pressure. Lampard marauds forward and although he loses the ball on the edge of the box it fortunately comes to Drogba who thrashes an effort off-target. Bright start by the Blues!
WHAT A CHANCE FOR CHELSEA! The threat comes down the right with Bosingwa and he crosses beautifully for Drogba who only has to smash it home but he volleys wide!!
Here we go! Chelsea get the new season underway with Lampard dinking a ball upto Anelka but Myhill is first to it and grabs gratefully. Stephen Hunt then crashes into Lampard, and receives huge jeers from the crowd, he's not a favourite at Stamford Bridge is Mr Hunt. Of course it was his challenge on Cech several years ago that left the stopper with a fractured skull.
Some quick team news ahead of kick off. Chelsea show off their new diamond formation with Essien on the right and Malouda on the left. The Tigers, meanwhile, hand new signings Olofinjana and Hunt debuts.
Good afternoon and welcome to goal.com as the Premier League returns to action. The first game of the new season sees Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea welcome Hull City to Stamford Bridge. Kick off is coming right up so stay tuned!
