Live Commentary

  • An injury for Lahm sours the occasion slightly, with Neuer also appearing to pick up a minor shoulder complaint in the second half. That's all we have time for from Berlin, but Bayern are the DFB Pokal winners! I've been Simon Harrison and I hope to see you again next time.
  • Dortmund pushed their adversaries all of the way, but Klopp's men just couldn't take their opportunities! Weidenfeller was the busiest of the two goalkeepers, with Bayern perhaps unfortunate to not win in normal time. That's it for another season, with Die Roten winning a double and Die Schwarzgelben competing with their rivals despite injuries.
  • FULL TIME! It's been fairly scrappy, but it's party time for Bayern in the Olympiastadion now! Dortmund will feel aggrieved that Hummels wasn't attributed a legitimate second half goal, but late strikes from Robben and Muller gift Guardiola's side the DFB Pokal trophy!
  • 120' + 3'
    Assist Claudio Pizarro
  • 120' + 3'
    Goal Thomas Müller
GOOOOOOOOOOAL! MULLER MAKES IT TWO AND WINS BAYERN THE DFB POKAL! He runs the length of the Dortmund half, before taking the ball doggedly past Schmelzer and Weidenfeller, slotting home from a tight angle!
  • 120' + 2'
Neuer makes up for his previous error, by claiming Dortmund's set piece with ease and confidence. Bayern will think that they've won the game now, there won't be a great deal of added time.
  • 120' + 1'
REUS! WHAT A CHANCE! The Germany international is found by a clever cushioned pass by Hummels, before Boateng is just about able to deflect his compatriot's effort over the bar and behind for a corner! It was from a tight angle, but only ten yards out!
  • 119'
Neuer races out to try and claim another cross from deep, but gets nowhere near it! Reus is able to pick up the pieces, but the bounce isn't kind to the Dortmund man, sparing Neuer's blushes.
  • 117'
    Yellow Card Arjen Robben
  • 117'
Dortmund win a free-kick from 30 yards, with the delivery bypassing several players on its way out for a goal-kick. It doesn't appear to be Die Schwarzgelben's night, with Klopp becoming more frustrated and visibly furious by the minute.
  • 115'
    Yellow Card Daniel Van Buyten
  • 115'
ROBBEN! The Dutchman races through on goal, before trying to clip the ball over the goalkeeper after he entered the box! Weidenfeller stands tall to block the cheeky attempt from the former Chelsea forward!
  • 114'
As we head into the last five minutes, the Bayern substitutes are nervously getting off their feet, shouting encouragement to their teammates. There are plenty of very, very tired players on this field, with Bayern unable to hold a high line.
  • 112'
ROBBEN! The Dutchman clatters a powerful effort into the near post, with Weidenfeller appearing to think that Robben's shot was headed wide! He's looked a bit shaky!
  • 111'
Good defending from Martinez! The Spaniard slides in at the near post to deny Aubameyang's cross! Dante was outpaced, but the former Bilbao midfielder wasn't to be beaten as easily!
  • 110'
    SubstitutionKevin Großkreutz Jonas Hofmann
  • 109'
    SubstitutionFranck Ribéry Claudio Pizarro
  • 109'
The Olympiastadion is absolutely rocking after Robben's goal, with Klopp looking positively furious with his players. Weidenfeller's throw out to Grosskreutz is perhaps slightly too heavy, with the player losing out to Boateng disappointingly, before the Bayern defender delivers a beautiful ball.
  • 107'
    Goal Arjen Robben
  • 107'
    Assist Jerome Boateng
  • 106'
We're back underway in the second period of extra-time, with this tie appearing destined to reach penalties! Since the 90 minute mark passed, both sides have appeared happy to decide this cup final from the spot! Not long left now!
  • 105' + 1'
Half time! We'll have a quick break to allow the coaches to get their messages across and the players to take on some much-needed fluids.
  • 105' + 1'
GROSSKREUTZ! The utility man cuts in onto his right foot and bends a tired effort inside Neuer's far post. The Bayern goalkeeper is easily able to get down to one side and smother the attempt.
  • 105'
Hummels marks Dante on the back post, with the Germany international able to hook a back post corner delivery away to disrupt Bayern's pressure. Klopp is furious on the sidelines, forcing the referee to come over and tell the Dortmund coach to calm down!
  • 104'
Important intervention from Sokratis! The Greece international slides in intelligently to rob Robben of a through ball, as the Dutchman looked to take the pass in his stride and race towards Weidenfeller's goal.
  • 103'
Only a couple of minutes until the interval and both teams appear resigned to penalties. There's a lack of intensity with plenty of tired legs on the field and it's hard to see where a goal will come from.
  • 102'
    SubstitutionPierre-Emile Højbjerg Daniel Van Buyten
  • 101'
It's a case of the walking wounded for Bayern, with players dropping like flies and treating each other for cramp. Despite the lack of real action on the field, the support continues to be brilliant from both sets of fans. Van Buyten warms up on the sidelines.
  • 100'
Very cautious play from both sides, as they aren't prepared to let a cheap goal slip. Given Dortmund's occasionally slack defending, Sokratis and Hummels have been very impressive this evening, they've been able to repel most of Bayern's ideas.
  • 98'
Kroos leaves the field to receive some additional treatment, but looks keen to get back onto the turf as soon as possible. This extra time period is yet to see any quality, with plenty of misplaced passes in the midfield third.
  • 96'
Kroos goes down with cramp, as the rigours of the game begin to take their toll on the playing personnel. This has been a fairly intense game, mainly focused on nullifying the opposition rather than creating too many chances, meaning that the midfield options have had plenty of ground to cover.
  • 94'
Raeder is warming up on the sidelines with Bayern's goalkeeping coach, as Neuer continues to cradle his shoulder. He's clearly in some discomfort and the watching Joachim Low won't want to see another one of his key players sidelined before the World Cup.
  • 93'
Neuer heads over to the substitutes' bench to receive some treatment on his shoulder, after slipping and awkwardly falling on the top of his arm. He's keen to get back on the field, but clearly needs some kind of painkilling attention before he gets back on with his job.
  • 92'
AUBAMEYANG! Reus races down the right before providing an excellent cut-back, but the Gabon international fires narrowly wide of the near post with Neuer worried! Dortmund are starting with good intensity.
  • 91'
We're back underway in the first half of extra time! Let's see if we can find a winner before penalties!
  • 90' + 2'
A few clear chances for either side, but they'll have to do it all again in an extra half an hour. Stick with us for all of the action, as Bayern and Dortmund continue to bid for some much-needed end-of-season silverware.
  • 90' + 2'
FULL TIME! The DFB Pokal cup final goes to extra time! No goals to speak of, but it's been an interesting clash nonetheless! Muller went the closest in the second half, but Neuer and Weidenfeller respectively have done enough to steer their respective sides into the dressing rooms goalless once again.
  • 90'
We'll have a couple of minutes of stoppage time, if it stays level, we'll be heading into extra-time!
  • 89'
Good tracking back from Aubameyang! Gotze is nearly found at the back post by a wonderful flick-on by Muller, but the Gabon international is able to get back inside his man and willingly concede a corner. Bayern waste the set piece, curling it directly out of play.
  • 88'
Hummels is alive to the danger to slide in and prevent a through ball from reaching the lurking Muller, as Dortmund attempt to remain resilient. It seems that this game might go to extra time, there's nothing between the two.
  • 86'
Gotze tries his luck against his former club from 25 yards, but the Germany international's efforts is blocked well! Dortmund then break, with Lewandowski cutting in from the left hand side and letting fly, but his shot meets the same fate as Gotze's!
  • 85'
Aubameyang is nearly threaded through on goal, but Dante puts in an important interception to deny the substitute. This game is extremely finely balanced, with neither side prepared to give away a cheap goal by pressing forward in a gung-ho fashion.
  • 83'
    SubstitutionMiloš Jojić Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
  • 83'
An offensive substitution from Klopp, as Aubameyang replaces Jojic, as the Serbian midfielder appears to have given all of his energy resources this evening. The Gabon international is being deployed on the right hand side and possesses near-inhumane pace. Perfect for Dortmund's counter-attacking intentions.
  • 82'
Two excellent runs from either side in the midfield third! Firstly, Reus tries to slide Lewandowski through on goal, before Martinez intercepts and gallivants into midfield. He takes the ball past two defenders before looking to set Ribery on his way, but Kirch stands strong to rob the former Athletic Bilbao man of possession.
  • 80'
Ten minutes remaining for either of these Bundesliga sides to put one hand on the DFB Pokal trophy! Sokratis nods away a Bayern free-kick that was thrown into the penalty area, as Dortmund look to hold firm.
  • 78'
SAHIN! The former Real Madrid midfielder is given the ball on the edge of the area by Piszczek, but sees his long-range effort thud into the advertising hoardings behind the goal. A goal seems to be on its way!
  • 77'
Still a couple of substitutions possible for both outfits, but Guardiola and Klopp appear happy to keep their cards close to their chests for the moment. Neuer stops another Dortmund attack in its tracks, as Lewandowski takes a quick throw in to put Reus in behind Bayern's defence. The Germany goalkeeper rushes out to make the clearance.
  • 75'
ROBBEN! The Dutchman fires an effort directly at Weidenfeller, before Ribery tucks the rebound wide of the near post! Bayern are getting that little bit closer with every attack, but Dortmund's goalkeeper remains equal to it.
  • 74'
Another Dortmund free-kick, but another dead ball situations wasted for Die Schwarzgelben. This one floats its way over the crossbar and into the stands. Still plenty of time for a goal, but this game certainly needs one!
  • 72'
KIRCH! The Dortmund substitute forces Neuer into a good save! The German midfielder gets plenty of power on his effort, but places it too close to the Bayern shot-stopper. He keeps his wrists strong to beat it away for a throw-in.
  • 71'
KROOS! The 24-year-old tries his luck from range, but Weidenfeller is more than happy to let the strike bounce behind for a goal kick. Dortmund's goalkeeper has been the busier of the two, but still hasn't been forced into a particularly difficult stop.
  • 70'
Twenty minutes remain for either side to find a breakthrough goal, in what has been an enthralling encounter. There's now a real ebb and flow to the game, with the future substitutes bound to have an effect on proceedings. Plenty of quality on both benches.
  • 68'
Boateng is the next man to make his way into the referee's book, following a rather clumsy challenge. There's a brief stoppage in play, but this game has now sprung into life! That goal-line decision was certainly the catalyst that we needed!
  • 67'
    Yellow Card Jerome Boateng
  • 66'
Dortmund still can't believe that they haven't got the lead, with this occurrence coming controversially after the German league association's decision not to implement goal-line technology. Bayern are buoyed on somewhat by their adversaries going so close!
  • 64'
Dortmund think they should have the lead, but Dante clears off the line! Klopp's players are absolutely furious, after Hummels was able to nod the ball home at the far post! It appears to be a yard over, but the linesman doesn't flag for a goal!
  • 63'
    Yellow Card Pierre-Emile Højbjerg
  • 63'
Hojbjerg now picks up a yellow card, with the youngster appearing to receive the booking for simulation. The match official has had a fantastic game this evening. The momentum of the game is just starting to swing back into the favour of Die Schwarzgelben.
  • 61'
Reus takes the free-kick, but the wall does its job and sends the attempt looping high into the air - so much so that it clips the back of the bar on its descent! Dortmund win the corner, but Sokratis commits a foul to give possession back to Bayern.
  • 60'
    SubstitutionHenrikh Mkhitaryan Oliver Kirch
  • 60'
Bayern riskily give away a free-kick, right on the edge of the penalty area, allowing for Dortmund to also make their first substitution of the game. Mkhitaryan is replaced by Kirch, with Reus, Sahin and Lewandowski stood over the dead ball situation.
  • 58'
Ribery yet again works his way down the right, before he's stopped in his tracks by Sokratis. The Greek defender has had an excellent season, proving to be a fantastic deputy to the injured Subotic. He stands up the Frenchman, before carrying the ball out of defence.
  • 56'
MULLER! What a chance for Bayern! Ribery dances down the left hand side yet again, before delivering a devilish ball to the near post! Muller manages to get a foot on the cross and turn it towards goal, but the Dortmund keeper blocks the shot with his foot before pouncing on the loose ball!
  • 54'
More of the same as far as Bayern are concerned, with possession not quite equalling dominance. They're failing to hold the ball for too long in advanced areas, with Dortmund able to hold their ground 30 yards out from Weidenfeller's goal. The Germany international second goalkeeper hasn't had a great deal to do for half an hour.
  • 52'
    Yellow Card Toni Kroos
  • 52'
Kroos picks up a yellow card for an awful challenge on Lewandowski, sending the Polish striker hurtling into Martinez. It's poorly timed and cynical from the Bayern midfielder, who takes his booking without anything in the way of complaint.
  • 51'
Hummels pulls off a fantastic piece of defending, marshalling Robben out wide before robbing the Dutchman of possession. Dortmund continue to stand firm and you'd think that the longer the game goes on, the happier Die Schwarzgelben will be. They're very much geared towards a smash-and-grab win.
  • 49'
Bayern start the second period as they finished the first - keen to hold onto possession. It's been quite slow from the Bavarian giants, however, with Dortmund at the moment able to repel Die Roten's attacks with ease. They're biding their time and waiting for a lethal counter.
  • 47'
No changes at half-time, with both sets of supporters keen to get right back behind their teams after kick-off. This is still very much anyone's trophy!
  • 46'
We are back underway for the second half! Bayern have perhaps had the better chances thus far, but there's plenty of minutes left for either side to have their say with regard to the scoreline.
  • Be sure to rejoin us in ten minutes for the second half of the DFB Pokal final, as Bayern and Dortmund look to define their season's with an additional piece of silverware. It's very finely balanced in the Olympiastadion, but the stadium is packing quite an atmosphere.
  • In the opening stages, Weidenfeller was called into action to deny Robben and Muller respectively, before Bayern went off the boil slightly. They've not been too incisive going forward, though their innovative new shape has left both Dortmund and spectators guessing. The only downside for Die Roten is that they've lost captain Lahm through injury.
  • HALF TIME! The opening 45 minutes draws to a close in Berlin, with neither side able to find the all-important breakthrough goal. Lewandowski and Hojbjerg have gone close near to the break, but we're still awaiting the first of the evening. Bayern have predictably seen more of the ball, but Dortmund have held firm.
  • 45'
LEWANDOWSKI! The Poland international is fed down the left channel, before he cuts inside Hojbjerg brilliantly. The ball bounces up ahead of him slightly, before he snatches at a half volley from eight yards. It's high, wide and fairly ugly from the former Lech Poznan striker.
  • 44'
HOJBJERG! The youngster fires narrowly wide of the far post! Ribery weaves his way down the left hand side, before cutting a pass back to the edge of the penalty area. Hojbjerg takes a quick touch, before arrowing a powerful strike just past Weidenfeller's upright! Close!
  • 42'
Bayern win a free-kick, as Muller is felled 25 yards out from goal. Kroos stands over it, but can only fire his effort into the wall. Disappointing, as Die Roten continue to pontificate over the best way to break this Dortmund side down. Hojbjerg plays a rather risky back pass to Neuer, but the goalkeeper is quick off his line to hoof it away from Lewandowski.
  • 40'
Five minutes for either side to make the breakthrough before the interval. Bayern are able to stroke the ball around their back three with ease, but are running into trouble as they delve into Die Schwarzgelben's half. Klopp's men remain capable of frustration in their thick yellow banks.
  • 38'
Robben goes down hoping for a penalty, but the referee points for a goal kick. The Netherlands international gets in behind Piszczek, before throwing himself to the ground pointlessly, without being clipped. He could've quite easily put a decent cross in there, but instead opted to go down.
  • 37'
A very cagey start, this game needs a goal to kick-start the contest into life. Dortmund are perhaps more focused on staying in this game, before pushing for a goal in the dying embers of the game, as they know that their counter-attacking style will become more potent the more that Bayern push on for the opener.
  • 35'
Dortmund are struggling to put together any extensive spells of possession, with Die Schwarzgelben's attacking trio being rather quiet thus far. That said, in one lightning quick break, Klopp's men could have the lead.
  • 33'
It doesn't look to good for Germany fans ahead of the World Cup, as Lahm is receiving extensive treatment on the bench - and doesn't look particularly comfortable. It appears to be a heel, ankle or possibly Achilles complaint and Joachim Low watches on in a worried fashion.
  • 32'
Around a quarter of an hour until the referee brings a close to the first half and both managers will be relatively happy with what they've seen. Dortmund have remained resilient, occasionally able to break upfield without leaving any gaps, while Bayern have seen enough of the ball to consider themselves as the dominant force.
  • 30'
    SubstitutionPhilipp Lahm Franck Ribéry
  • 30'
Well, it has only taken half an hour for us to see our first change. Ribery is sent on in place of the injured Lahm, though it appears that Hojbjerg will continue as a wing-back for the time being. The young midfielder is capable of tucking in if required, though.
  • 29'
REUS! The Dortmund forward tries his luck from the edge of the penalty box, but gets it all wrong and fails to hit the target. Lahm goes down once again and it doesn't appear that the Bayern captain will be continuing for much longer.
  • 27'
As it stands, Bayern are moving the ball with more fluency than their adversaries, but they haven't quite been able to do anything with possession. Die Roten look most dangerous whenever they try to feed Robben in behind Hummels early on.
  • 25'
Hesitation from Robben! The former PSV man is fed through on goal brilliantly, but pulls out of the challenge as Weidenfeller bears down on him! The Dortmund keeper takes no chances, sliding in to put the ball out of play.
  • 24'
Reus whips in a free-kick from deep on the left hand side, but the ball arrowing easily within the grasp of the awaiting Neuer. It's not quite happening for Dortmund offensively just yet, but both sides are starting to find their sharpness and rhythm. Lahm is off the field for treatment on his heel.
  • 22'
The atmosphere is unrelenting, with both sets of fans urging their respective teams forward. Sahin is found in a pocket of space 25 yards from goal, before the Turkey international drags a speculative effort way wide of the near post. Neuer had that easily covered.
  • 20'
Bayern look to be lacking the final ball in midfield somewhat, which isn't helped by the absence of Thiago. The Spaniard had just been coming back to fitness, before suffering a recurrence of his previous ankle injury, much to the annoyance of both Bayern and La Roja fans.
  • 18'
Bayern continue to enjoy the lion's share of possession, but aren't able to do a great deal with it. The ball is cut back to Kroos, who releases Muller on the edge of the penalty area, but the Germany international can only fire a tame effort into the midriff of Hummels. Die Roten's attacks are fizzling out at the moment.
  • 16'
Important clearance from Dante! A back post cross is stood up to Piszczek, with the full-back able to direct a square header back across goal in search of Lewandowski! His compatriot is prowling, but Dante gets an important foot in to hook the loose ball away from the six yard box.
  • 15'
The opening quarter of an hour has passed without too much happening, though Weidenfeller has been called into action twice. Neuer enjoys his first involvement, as the tall Germany international races off his line to easily claim a corner delivery, but Bayern are very much on top.
  • 13'
Mkhitaryan jogs over to the substitutes' bench, asking for the coaching staff to patch up a bloody nose. Dortmund continue to sit back in shape, before looking to break with real pace. Bayern's maverick formation doesn't appear to have fazed Die Schwarzgelben too much.
  • 11'
Poor ball from Lewandowski! Grosskreutz releases his teammate, who bursts down the right flank before trying to cut back a cross into the path of Reus! Dante gets an important foot in to turn the ball behind for a corner, which Bayern promptly clear.
  • 10'
The opening ten minutes have been an insight into the inner workings of Guardiola's mind, as he's innovated a new shape for his Bayern side tonight. Three central defenders are supported by the wing-backs of Rafinha and Hojbjerg, while Lahm sits as a defensive midfielder. Kroos and Muller are free-roaming in behind the striking duo of Gotze and Robben. Plenty of fluidity and rotation possible, though.
  • 8'
Bayern have started the better of the two sides, seeing much more of the ball and testing Weidenfeller twice. Dortmund, meanwhile, attempt to keep their shape and not concede early on. Die Roten are a fearsome machine when they get their tails up, so Klopp will be intent on frustrating them early on.
  • 6'
ROBBEN! The Dutchman manages to get in behind Hummels, after being fed in behind the Dortmund defensive line all too easily. He uses his pace, before unleashing a powerful strike straight at Weidenfeller! Plenty for the Germany international keeper to do thus far!
  • 5'
Somewhat controversially, Robert Lewandowski is starting for Dortmund tonight, despite looking to sign for Bayern during the coming summer. The Poland international netted a beautiful free-kick on the final day of the Bundesliga, lifting the league top goalscorer award in the process. Meanwhile Die Roten's top scorer, Mario Mandzukic, is left out altogether!
  • 4'
MULLER! First chance goes to Bayern! The Germany international is fed down the right channel, after a good through ball from Robben. Muller tries his luck at the near post, but Weidenfeller makes himself big to turn the ball away bravely with his face! Not sure he knew too much about it!
  • 3'
Neuer sees plenty of possession in the opening minutes, with Bayern looking to keep the ball. The former Schalke goalkeeper is featuring in his fourth consecutive DFB Pokal final, which is a German footballing record. The atmosphere is fantastic inside the Olympiastadion!
  • 2'
Martinez is dropping deep as a third centre-half, as Bayern appear to be starting with three defenders. Lahm is being pushed ahead of them, as Guardiola experiments once again. It might take a while to completely figure out the technicalities of this Die Roten system. Arjen Robben is sitting centrally.
  • 1'
We are underway in the first half! A few absentees, but there's still plenty of quality on offer for both teams! Dortmund are in their customary yellow, with Bayern wearing their new home kit - featuring rather retro shades of blue and red. Here we go!
  • Fantastic choreography and pre-match entertainment at Olympiastadion and the national anthem rings out too! This is quite an occasion between two fantastic sides, with a fantastic spectacle on the cards! What a way to end the domestic season!
  • There is a quarter of an hour before kick-off, so be sure to stick around as Bayern attempt to add yet another trophy to their evergrowing collection. Guardiola may not be able to match the unprecedented treble of Jupp Heynckes last season, but the Spaniard won't be unhappy to take two pieces of silverware in his inaugural campaign - especially while trying to learn German too.
  • Plenty of possibilities regarding how Guardiola's side is to line up, with Hojbjerg's inclusion something of a surprise. Klopp's eleven is much more predictable, as Die Schwarzgelben aim to extend their brilliant end of season form. Interestingly, Bayern haven't lost in this tournament since they surrendered the DFB Pokal trophy to Dortmund back in the final of 2012.
  • Bayern substitutes: Van Buyten, Ribery, Shaqiri, Pizarro, Contento, Raeder.
  • Bayern starting line-up: Neuer; Rafinha, Boateng, Dante, Lahm; Martinez, Kroos; Robben, Gotze, Hojbjerg; Muller.
  • Dortmund substitutes: Friedrich, Kehl, Hofmann, Aubameyang, Kirch, Durm, Alomerovic.
  • Dortmund starting line-up: Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Hummels, Sokratis, Schmelzer; Sahin, Jojic; Reus, Mkhitaryan, Grosskreutz; Lewandowski.
  • TEAM NEWS: Both Rafinha and Philipp Lahm start, with the latter presumably slotting in at left-back - where he has featured heavily for Die Mannschaft in the past. Javi Martinez slots into defensive midfield, with the Spaniard able to drop in as a third centre-half when needed. Pierre Hojbjerg is given a start in a high profile match, with both Mario Gotze and Thomas Muller the Die Roten men deployed furthest forward. Franck Ribery is on the bench, with Mario Mandzukic left out altogether.
  • TEAM NEWS: Marcel Schmelzer is fit for Dortmund, with Nuri Sahin also able to feature as part of the defensive midfield shield. Kevin Grosskreutz is entrusted with some responsibility despite being deployed in attacking midfield, with the utility man presumably being used to double up on Arjen Robben. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski make up the fearsome offensive trio for Klopp's side.
  • I'm Simon Harrison and I will be leading you through all of the action at the Olympiastadion, as both sides look to send their supporters home happy for the summer. It'll be a sell-out crowd, with a fantastic atmosphere, so be sure to stick around to stay informed of what should be quite a spectacle! What's more, Bayern-bound Robert Lewandowski starts for Die Schwarzgelben.
  • Hello and welcome to live coverage of the DFB Pokal final between Bayern and Dortmund! The Bundesliga's top two clash in Berlin, vying for what is a season-defining trophy. Klopp's men are hoping to have something to show for their campaign despite picking up plenty of injuries, while Pep Guardiola looks to pick up a double in his first season as Die Roten coach.
