Well, that's all from me this evening. I hope you've enjoyed Goal.com's LIVE coverage of tonight's friendly between Chelsea and Roma at the RFK Stadium. I'm Ian Capasso, signing off.

The Blues will now return to London and await their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge to Hull City on August 18, whilst Roma will head back to the Italian capital in anticipation of their Serie A curtain raiser against Livorno on August 25.

Late drama was in store in the American capital after the sides exchanged blows for the remainder of the second half, with Chelsea finally landing the knockout blow on 89 minutes as Romelu Lukaku finished into an empty net after a scintillating Eden Hazard run down the left side of the area.

After having the better of the opening stages of the second half Chelsea finally levelled on 60 minutes, Frank Lampard striking from distance after coming off the bench for the Blues.

Roma were fortunate to take the lead midway through the first half as a Mark Schwarzer blunder on a back pass from Ryan Bertrand allowed Erik Lamela to smash home at close range to put the Giallorossi on top.

Let's take a look at the action of the day now that we've reached full time.

69′

46′
And the second half has begun with Roma taking the kick-off.

The sides are emerging from the tunnel and the second half should be under way shortly.

Schurrle had a chance on the stroke of halftime as he came free to fire in from distance, yet his effort sailed over the bar and the chance went begging.

The Blues' confidence looked slightly dented as the half wore on with Roma possessing more and more of the ball over time. Mourinho's men had a shout for a penalty on 40 minutes when Schurrle went down after bursting into the area at pace, but the referee was having nothing of it and waved play on.

Chelsea nearly went 2-0 down when Bradley played Osvaldo into the area with a ball over the top for a snapshot from 12 yards, but this time Schwarzer was up to the task and got down well to save.

However, the Giallorossi grew into the match as time went on and went ahead on 21 minutes under rather fortuitous circumstances. Bertrand's back pass to Schwarzer found the keeper stumbling over himself, and the Australian could only bundle the ball off of his own upright, allowing Erik Lamela to rush in and smash home to put Roma on top.
