Standing in for Alex Manninger, the keeper made a few decent saves across the course of the game and may consider himself unlucky to have ended up conceding four. He was left exposed by his sluggish defence.
Supported Hahn to good effect when moving forward but his delivery was poor and he completely lost Aubameyang as he slotted in his second.
Initially read the game impressively to make some important interceptions. He kept close tabs on Lewandowski for much of the game, but his concentration slipped late on as he conceded a penalty in the closing stages with a late tackle.
Failed to orchestrate the defence effectively as Augsburg left huge holes in the channels which were eventually exploited. He was slow to close the ball and seemed completely unaware of the movement of the opposition.
Will be disappointed with himself for letting Aubameyang get away from him in the area as he nodded in the opening goal. He struggled to cope with the pace of the Gabon international throughout the match.
Looked a threat when he picked up the ball, making some bright runs and attempting to spread the play effectively. He supplied a great cross which Molders was unable to put into the back of the net in the second half.
Kept things compact in the middle of the park for much of the game, limiting the space in which Dortmund could operate. He did not provide his side with much direction from deep, though, and should have tried to control the game more.
Struggled to create enough from midfield to make Augsburg look dangerous when moving up the pitch. His distribution when in possession was poor, and his only effort was a sliced volley into the advertising hoardings.
Tasked with much of the creativity for Augsburg, he was only bright intermittently. He pressed well but did not supply Molders with enough service. He was denied a stunning goal in the first half by a good Langerak save.
Found it difficult to get the better of the two BVB centre-backs. The service he received was not particularly brilliant, but he was unable to hold up the play when a long ball was sent up to him. He failed to test Langerak.
An energetic performance wide on the right made him a real danger to BVB. He closed down Schmelzer as quickly as he could and also whipped a number of decent crosses into the box.
A thunderous effort from Holzhauser which was saved brilliantly by the keeper on the stroke of half-time was his highlight. He will be delighted to have kept a clean sheet while deputising for Weidenfeller.
Certainly had something to worry about as Hahn hassled him throughout. Nevertheless, he attacked with aplomb and it was his brilliant cross which supplied the assist for the opening goal.
Was perhaps a bit careless at times but he had complete control over Molders for the entirety of the match. He kept tight to Subotic and forced Augsburg to look wide and cross into the box, which they were both comfortable dealing with.
A solid afternoon from the Serbian. He looked sloppy in the early stages as he came under pressure but that soon passed. He judged his tackles well and swept things up at the back when Augsburg thought they were through.
Failed to offered his defence enough protection as BVB struggled to get a hold on the game in the early exchanges. A goal-line clearance on the brink of half time helped his side keep a clean sheet, though.
Played out of position at right-back due to the absence of Piszczek and it was clear he was not entirely comfortable. Fortunately for him, however, Augsburg failed to trouble Grosskreutz and he was given quite a lot of freedom on the right.
An efficient display in midfield. Sahin never overly stretched himself and could have perhaps gone about trying to link defence to attack with a bit more zeal. He had one effort at goal which was saved comfortably by Amsif.
Was nice in possession but did not make enough of an impact in the areas where it counted. Could have provided more service in attack.
Debuts rarely go better than his did. His pace caused a number of problems but it was his movement that was most devastating. Three brilliant runs got him into position to net a trio of quality strikes on a day he will remember for a long time.
The striker received minimal service throughout the whole game and therefore was quiet.. He still popped up late on with a delightful assist for Aubameyang's hat-trick before sliding home a penalty.
Was quiet for the first hour of the game but came to life having had a wicked free kick saved by Amsif. He supplied Aubameyang with a great pass to net his second which rescued his afternoon from disappointment.
