Had few saves to make, but commanded his area and distributed well.
Gave Forshaw a bit too much space to attack on occasion, but generally kept him pinned back in his own half.
Never looks entirely comfortable on the ball, but competed tenaciously as ever and forced Moore into a couple of good saves. Crossed low for Oscar to kill the game off.
Composed in midfield and kept his discipline even as Chelsea struggled to break down their stubborn visitors. Commited an ugly shoulder charge on Reeves, forcing the substitute to leave the field with concussion.
Diced with danger with the ball on occasion and was lucky to be saved by the referee's whistle when Trotta wrong-footed him and slotted home, but was generally fairly solid.
Unflappable at the heart of defence, and Brentford's conservative gameplan meant his lack of pace was rarely exposed. Got himself a well-taken goal late on.
Forgot his shooting boots in the first half as he chases Bobby Tambling's all-time goalscoring record, twice miscuing in the penalty area, but still dictated proceedings from the middle of the pitch. Finally got goal 199 with 20 minutes left.
Unlucky to hit the post in the first half while off balance, and was Chelsea's brightest creator for long periods. Still a delight to watch, and his sublime flick - though fortunate to trickle in - made the game safe. Also put in a lovely cross for Terry to nod in a fourth.
Direct and tricky, he caused Bidwell a fair few problems, but his replacement Hazard had the greater impact.
Looked out of sorts in his number-branded facemask, and never really got into the game. Did knock the ball down for Mata's opener, though.
Top of the Match
As always, he was at the centre of everything Chelsea did well, and it was no surprise when he was the man to break the deadlock. Finding little pockets of space almost by instinct, he tormented Brentford and set up Lampard for the Blues' third. He is brilliant, but Rafa Benitez will be wishing his team were not quite so reliant on him.
Replaced Lampard with 10 minutes to go.
Replaced Moses with 25 minutes left and took just three minutes to make his mark, playing in Ivanovic to cross for Oscar to flick home.
Played the final 10 minutes instead of Mata with the game won.
