The second Coppa Italia semi-final tie between Roma and Inter takes place tomorrow night at the Stadio Olimpico. Thanks for joining me on this thrilling cup match which saw Lazio gain the upper hand over Juventus. Until next time, goodbye!
But Petkovic should know never to rule out this Juventus side. With Pirlo and Giovinco set to return within a week's time, Conte's team could prove to be a more dangerous attacking outfit.
Lazio have now not beaten Juventus in nine matches but that could prove to be their most crucial result against the Turin side. If they can make home advantage count, the Biancocelesti could be on course for their sixth Coppa Italia title.
FULL TIME: JUVENTUS 1 - 1 LAZIO. Stefano Mauri's late leveller gives Lazio the advantage ahead of the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico. Juventus had a plethora of chances with Marchetti proving a difficult obstacle in the Lazio goal. Peluso's goal looked to have decided the tie in Conte's favour but slack defending and profligacy in front of goal ensure that the Bianconeri have it all to do in Rome.
GOOD SAVE AGAIN FROM MARCHETTI! De Ceglie lays the ball off for Giaccherini who drops his shoulder to dip past one defender before firing a low effort towards goal which is well stopped by the strong right hand of Marchetti. Seconds remaining.
The ball is tossed into the Lazio penalty box but Barzagli's header is well claimed by Marchetti. He has been in fine form tonight.
Yellow Card Michael Ciani
Ciani picks up a booking for handball. Chance for Juventus to lob the ball into the box here.
Juventus look to respond immediately with Vucinic but the Montenegrin drags a shot narrowly wide of Marchetti's post. Moments later, Matri is played in on the right of the box but his fierce effort flies straight into the midriff of the Lazio goalkeeper.
Goal Stefano Mauri
Lazio are probing for an equaliser but they just cannot find a way past a resilient Juventus defence. Crucial five minutes remaining.
Substitution Giuseppe Biava Stefan Radu
Double substitution for Lazio and it appears a change in system. Cristian Brocchi surprisingly replaces Hernanes whilst Stefan Radu enters the fray in place of Giuseppe Biava.
Substitution Hernanes Cristian Brocchi
MARCHETTI KEEPS LAZIO IN THE GAME! Mirko Vucinic makes an instant impact when his glorious dinked pass finds the run of Vidal. The Chilean looks to loop his header over Marchetti but the Lazio shotstopper produces wonderful reflexes to claw the ball away on the goalline.
Lazio exchange some neat passes on the edge of the box but Antonio Candreva takes an unfortunate air shot. Little sign of the Biancocelesti scoring an equaliser here.
Pogba is the man on freekick duty but his powerful effort dips just over Marchetti's goal.
Substitution Claudio Marchisio Mirko Vučinić
This time Pogba does play the perfect pass, rolling the ball in behind Cana, but Marchisio does not anticipate it and the chance breaks down. Juventus looking the more likely to score again here.
Pogba again opts for the long ball, looking for the run of Vidal, but the ball skids through for Marchetti to collect. Those long balls haven't quite come off for the 19-year-old today.
VIDAL HITS THE POST! Matri splits the Lazio defence with an eye-of-the-needle through ball for Vidal and the Chilean's shot with the outside of his right boot clatters the inside of the post. Isla regains possession on the right of the box and Vidal is left frustrated again as his effort at the back post bobbles narrowly wide. What a chance for Juventus to extend their lead!
Substitution Federico Peluso Paolo De Ceglie
Substitution Cristian Ledesma Antonio Candreva
Lazio look to respond but Mauri is inches away from getting on the end on the end of Lulic's cross. Will Petkovic take the 1-0 loss or will he throw on an attacker and push for an equaliser?
SO CLOSE TO 2-0! Andrea Barzagli drifts a wonderful diagonal pass to Matri who evades Biava with his first touch before striking narrowly over the bar under pressure from Cana. Juventus firmly in the driving seat.
Mirko Vucinic had been stripped off and ready to come on but the Montenegrin is now sat back on the bench. The Juve staff are laughing, it seems that Peluso was the man who was going to be replaced.
Assist Emanuele Giaccherini
Goal Federico Peluso
Lazio seem perfectly happy to sit back and soak up this Juventus pressure. Their defence has been extremely well-organised and disciplined this evening. Can they hold on?
Juve have half an hour to find an advantage to take to the Stadio Olimpico. Can they find it?
Matri has sprung to life in the past five minutes and he anticipates Vidal's knockdown excellently but his left footed half-volley crashes wildly over the bar.
Lazio threaten when Ledesma launches a freekick deep into the Bianconeri box but Mauri's header is well saved by Storari.
BEST CHANCE OF THE MATCH! Luca Marrone is the architect as plays a delightful pass over the top of the Lazio defence for Matri and his superb cushioned volley is expertly fingertipped over the bar by Marchetti. Great technique from Matri and an equally great save from the Lazio goalkeeper.
Pogba controls a long pass on his chest with ease before trying to find the run of Matri with a searching pass and it requires a wonderul acrobatic clearance from Cana to prevent the Italian from advancing on goal.
Emanuele Giaccherini tries to trick his way past Gonzalez with a series of stepovers but the Uruguayan refuses to dive in and does well to block the shot.
Isla delivers a fantastic cross from the right, looking for Matri, but Lorik Cana gets his positioning spot on to head the ball clear. Moments later, Peluso breaks down the left but his teasing delivery is fantastically headed away by the backtracking Ciani.
Alvaro Gonzalez goes down under a tackle from Peluso and requires a spot of treatment. The Uruguayan should be ok to continue.
Mirko Vucinic is warming up on the touchline. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Montenegrin on the pitch soon.
Paul Pogba looks to add to his collection of great strikes with a scorching low effort from distance and Marchetti is fortunate to see the ball fly wide of his right post.
The players emerge from the tunnels and this game is set to get back underway...
This Juventus line-up have not played together that often this season and there certainly appears to be a lack of cohesion and fluidity on the pitch. With the away goals rule applying, will Petkovic be satisfied with a 0-0 stalemate?
By the way, Hernanes and Marchisio swapped shirts at the break. Should this be allowed? Who will take the advantage in this semi-final first leg? Let me know your thoughts on that first half via Twitter @MaxBentley1.
JUVENTUS 0 - 0 LAZIO! Hardly a Coppa Italia classic but both sides showed promising signs during that opening period. In truth, it's been more of a midfield battle with both teams cancelling each other out in the middle of the park. Marchisio saw an early chance smothered by Marchetti while at the other end, Cavanda and Mauri both spurned decent openings. Matri and Floccari have cut equally frustrating, isolated figures up front and you feel that Antonio Conte needs to shake things up if his side want to make home advantage count. Fingers crossed for more goalmouth action in the second half!
Lazio are looking to end the half strongly and Hernanes' short corner to Cavanda is thrusted into the box by the Belgian, but Floccari is leaning back and his header loops over Storari's crossbar.
That's the best we have seen from Sergio Floccari. The 31-year-old twists and turns to evade his marker on the edge of the box, but his goalbound shot is deflected behind excellently by Luca Marrone.
GOOD SAVE FROM MARCHETTI! The Lazio shotstopper has not been too busy during the first half but he is alert when called upon, turning away Giaccherini's stinging drive from the edge of the box.
Yellow Card Hernanes
Cavanda wins a corner late in the half but Hernanes delivery disappointingly fails to beat the first man. The Brazilian has not enjoyed his greatest of halves and his misery is compounded when he is cautioned for a foul on Vidal.
Substitution Leonardo Bonucci Martín Cáceres
Leonardo Bonucci has been struggling for some time and he can no longer continue. Uruguayan defender Martin Caceres comes on to replace him.
It's been a bit of a midfield slog in this opening period with the bobbly pitch certainly not helping either side's cause. With both teams employing a 3-5-1-1 formation, it's been rather overcrowded in the middle of the park. Will Antonio Conte change things at the break to give his side the attacking impetus?
Five minutes until half-time. Can one side clinch that elusive opening goal before the break?
Juventus launch a promising counter-attack with Isla scampering down the right wing. The Chilean bursts towards the box before cutting the ball back for Giaccherini, but it is just too far ahead of the Italian and the chance breaks down.
JUVENTUS ARE ROCKING! Lazio really should be ahead when they attack down the left again, this time with Lulic. The Bosnian gets to the byline before clipping a cross towards Mauri but Marrone is there first and he is fortunate to see his touch sneak the wrong side of the post. If Mauri had shown more desire, he could have buried that!
Cristian Ledesma does well to bulldoze his way down the left wing and he crosses for Hernanes who looks to set to nod the ball home, but he is denied by a wonderful last-ditch challenge from Peluso.
GOOD CHANCE FOR LAZIO! When a cross is whipped in from the right, Biava is there to head back across goal for Cavanda, but the Angolan-born Belgian gets his feet in a muddle and fails to make good contact with his shot. That was a real chance for the visitors.
Leonardo Bonucci appears to be struggling with his hamstring. Martin Caceres warms up on the touchline.
Hernanes finds space 25 yards out to set up Stefano Mauri but the Lazio captain's long-range effort rises high over the crossbar.
Juventus win a freekick in a promising position but Giaccherini's delivery is well defended by Giuseppe Biava. The Lazio back three have been very impressive so far.
Apart from that early Marchetti stop from Marchisio, neither goalkeeper has really been tested in this semi-final. Which player can create that spark to break the deadlock?
Lazio are trying to get their midfield magician Hernanes on the ball but the Juventus midfield have done a good job of preventing the service to the Brazilian.
Lazio just cannot get it together at the moment and when they have possession on the edge of the Juventus box, Cristian Ledesma wastefully overhits his lofted pass. A lack of quality in the final third for Petkovic's side at the moment.
Close from Pogba! Marchisio delivers another tasty set-piece and the Frenchman steams in before sending a bullet header inches over the crossbar.
Juventus attack down the other end and Isla's fizzing low drive is deflected behind for a corner.
Nearly a howler from Storari! When Floccari flicks on a cross from the right, the Juventus shotstopper should easily catch the ball but he inexplicably fumbles it and is lucky that there is no blue shirt on hand to poke it in from close range.
A bombarding run from Cavanda draws a corner for the visitors and they nearly take the lead from Hernanes' resulting set-piece but Ciani's header goes narrowly wide of the goal. Warning signs for Juventus.
Antonio Conte will be delighted with how his side are dictating the play so far but he knows that they will need to convert this sustained pressure into goals.
Juventus are first to everything at the moment with Lazio pinned back in their own half. Federico Peluso looks to zip in a low cross from the left but it is brilliantly intercepted by Luis Pedro Cavanda. That was a crucial interception because Juventus had bodies in the box.
Mauricio Isla is looking lively down the right-hand side and he once again gets behind Nenad Lulic before his dangerous low cross is excellently diverted behind the goal by Ciani for a corner. From the resulting set-piece, Barzagli wins the header but it is comfortably saved by Marchetti.
Another brilliant delivery from Marchisio and another close call for Lazio! This time the midfielder whips in a corner from the right which Pogba meets with an acrobatic effort which whistles narrowly past the post. Entertaining start here.
Lazio win the first corner of the game but Hernanes' set-piece is punched clear by Marco Storari. Moments later, Lazio win another corner but Federico Peluso wins the header at the front post and the danger is quelled.
Paul Pogba, being urged by the fans to shoot after his two sublime strikes against Udinese on the weekend, tries to loft the ball over the top of the Biancocelesti defence for Matri, but the striker has strayed just offside.
Juventus are continuing to pressure this Lazio defence early on and Matri's neat back-flick nearly sets up an opportunity but Marchetti is out of his goal quickly to claim.
Claudio Marchisio whips in a fantastic freekick towards the back post which Leonardo Bonucci meets, but his header rises over the crossbar. There will be a stoppage in play after the Juve defender clashed heads with Ciani.
Juventus have started brightly and they attack down the right with Mauricio Isla but the Chilean's teasing cross is well cut out by Michael Ciani.
Early chance for Juventus to take the lead when Alessandro Matri flicks the ball on for Claudio Marchisio but the Italian international is denied by a brave stop from Federico Marchetti. Fine goalkeeping.
A fantastic atmosphere here at the Juventus Stadium with both sets of fans in fine voice. Captains Marco Storari and Stefano Mauri exchange handshakes in the centre-circle.
Lazio do not have a very good record against Juventus as of late, failing to win any of their last eight matches against the Bianconeri. Can they end that dismal run this evening?
Both sides are missing key players for the fixture with Andrea Pirlo, Giorgio Chiellini and Sebastian Giovinco missing out for Juventus through injury. Miroslav Klose, Abdoullay Konko and Ederson are absent for Lazio whilst Andre Dias is suspended.
Lazio (3-5-1-1): Marchetti, Biava , Cana, Ciani; Cavanda, Gonzalez, Ledesma, Hernanes, Lulic, Mauri; Floccari.
Juventus (3-5-1-1): Storari; Barzagli, Bonucci, Peluso; Isla, Vidal, Marrone, Pogba, Giaccherini; Marchisio; Matri.
Without any further ado, here is tonight's team news...
Lazio really are the team to beat at the moment. The Biancocelesti have emerged as genuine Scudetto contenders and are currently on a 14-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. Can they avoid defeat to the Italian champions this evening?
We're down to the final four and with silverware in sight, both Juventus and Lazio will be looking to secure the upper hand in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals this evening. The Bianconeri are searching for a record tenth Coppa Italia title but Vladimir Petkovic will be hoping that his side can extend Juve's 18-year wait for the prized trophy with victory over the two legs. Bringing you all the action from the Juventus Stadium, my name is Max Bentley. Feel free to tweet me your thoughts and predictions on the game via Twitter @MaxBentley1.
