Shakhtar Donetsk confirm Arsenal-linked Georgiy Sudakov will 'definitely' leave this summer as officials fly to London for talks

The <a href="https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal-fc-georgiy-sudakov-transfer-latest-shakhtar-donetsk-b1151970.html" target="_blank">Evening Standard</a> reports Shakhtar officials have been in London this week for discussions over a possible transfer and now the club's CEO, Sergei Palkin, has confirmed the midfielder's time at the Miners is set to come to an end.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Palkin, who was involved with Mykhailo Mudryk's £88.5m ($110m) move to Chelsea last year, said: "This summer window, he has a big chance to move to some big clubs. We have had some contacts with big clubs and some are not negotiating with us directly but are getting a feel for the summer environment. He will definitely move to a top European club this summer. When I was at Chelsea versus Everton on Monday, many people asked me about Sudakov."

WHAT SHAKHTAR SAID

The reports adds that if any side is keen on capturing his signature, any suitor may have to pay £60m ($74.7m) for the Ukraine international. Palkin revealed that Napoli had a £34m ($42m) bid for the playmaker rejected in January and his price tag has gone up a lot since then.He added: “I told Napoli in January they could have him for €50m (£42.8m) plus bonuses, and they offered €40m (£34.2m), but I said to them to close the deal now or lose this unique chance. Now, it will not be €50m. They would have no chance to do that now because we have many more clubs looking. The most interest will come from English clubs. For me, he will become one of the best midfielders in Europe and the world. We don’t want clubs to seek discounts because we are at war. An example was for Mudryk. We are quite strong.”

While speculation over Sudakov's future is likely to rumble on for weeks and possibly months, his Shakhtar side are away to Zorya Luhansk in the Ukrainian Premier League on Thursday.
