<p>United have been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-send-offer-jason-wilcox-technical-director-southampton-annoyed/blt79e5076f2864a580" target="_blank">linked with a move for Wilcox for some time</a> and have now confirmed the 53-year-old has joined the club and will start work "with immediate effect." WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>United have confirmed that Wilcox will report to the as-yet unappointed sporting director at the club, but have revealed that they expect to appoint the latter "in due course". <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-kw/lists/jim-ratcliffe-newcastle-dan-ashworth-old-trafford/blt13ae432257f0df66" target="_blank">Reports suggest that Dan Ashworth</a>, currently on gardening leave from Newcastle United, is the target for that position.</p>

<p>In a short statement, the club <a href="https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/jason-wilcox-appointed-technical-director-at-man-utd-club-statement" target="_blank">said</a>: "Jason Wilcox has joined Manchester United as Technical Director with immediate effect. He will work with all technical areas of the football department to achieve the highest standards of performance. </p><p>"Jason was previously Director of Football at Southampton and before that Academy Director at Manchester City. As a player he won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers in 1995."</p>

WHAT MANCHESTER UNITED SAID

<p>Wilcox will begin work with United immediately and start preparations for the summer transfer window. On the pitch, United face Coventry City in an FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.</p>
