Per <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5495996/2024/05/15/lionel-messi-injury-inter-miami-orlando/?redirected=1" target="_blank">The Athletic</a>, the Argentine will not travel with the Inter Miami squad to Orlando after he was ruled out of action <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/lionel-messi-injury-inter-miami-doubts-mls-rivalry-week-orlando-city/bltf0760896bc249489#cs9e38e6e697b99d03" target="_blank">due to a knee injury</a>. Messi picked up the knock during the club's <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/inter-miami-player-ratings-cf-montreal-matias-rojas-benjamin-cremaschi-luis-suarez/blt48b1841fe84a2a3f" target="_blank">3-2 win over CF Montreal </a>last week.

Until now, the World Cup-winning Argentina captain had missed four games for the Herons in the current campaign with all four matches being played in March. In that period, the David Beckham-owned side did not fare too well as they lost twice, drew once and had just one win.
