FIRST FULL SEASON
The South Africa international is staring at an uncertain future at French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes following a disappointing season which saw him score only one goal.
The recent 2016/17 campaign was Erasmus' first full season in France since moving to Europe from Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Orlando Pirates in January, 2016.
The diminutive striker faced stiff competition for a place in Rennes' starting line-up as he was competing with experienced forwards Giovanni-Guy Yann Sio and Kamil Grosicki.
As a result, Erasmus could only make eight Ligue 1 appearances - seven of them as a substitute and he failed to find the back of the net for the Red and Blacks.

After failing to make any impact in the first round of the season, Rennes decided to make Erasmus available on loan in January, 2017.
Despite interest from Belgian First Division A club Zulte Waregem, he opted to stay in France and he joined French Ligue 2 outfit RC Lens on a short-term loan deal.
The 1997/98 French Ligue 1 champions had an option to purchase the former Feyenoord forward from his parent club at the end of the campaign.
Erasmus enjoyed some regular game time under coach Alain Casanova, who had praised the striker following his arrival, saying that he's just the player they were looking for at Lens as they pushed for promotion to Ligue 1.
However, the former SuperSport United star failed to repay the faith the 55-year-old French tactician had shown in him as he netted once in 12 league appearances.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR ERASMUS?
Having failed to help Lens clinch promotion back to the French top flight league, Erasmus has returned to Rennes where his contract runs until June, 2018.
It remains to be seen if the Port Elizabeth-born player will be in the plans of Rennes head coach Christian Gourcuff, who has praised Erasmus' vivacity and technique in the past.
But with DR Congo striker Ndombe Mubele having joined Rennes in January, 2017 and frontmen Wesley Said and Sio still in the squad, opportunities in Erasmus' favoured forward role are likely to be limited.

Furthermore, the Red and Blacks recently signed young striker Jordan Tell and the club is constantly linked with different strikers including Cameroon and Angers SCO forward Karl Toko Ekambi.
It would be best for Erasmus to look for a club where he can claim a spot all to his own and build a better reputation for himself in Europe with Bafana Bafana still in the race to qualify for next year's Fifa World Cup finals in Russia.
Erasmus, who turns 27 next month, is at his peak and playing regularly will lead to the striker reaching his full potential possibly play an instrumental role in helping Bafana qualify for the finals and lead his country's attack in Russia.
