The former Kaizer Chiefs boss believes Mosimane has helped his men play their best football in the 2017/18 PSL season

The Premier Soccer League is set to announce nominees for the 2017/18 PSL annual Awards on Monday and speculation is already rife on who will walk away with the Midfielder of the Season and Coach of the Season Awards.

To former Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela, Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane deserves to walk away with the award for being the best coach.

Komphela says ‘Jingles’ has worked hard with the Brazilians in the recently ended season as he led the Chloorkop-based side to their eighth PSL crown.

Sundowns amassed 60 points from 30 matches and beat Orlando Pirates to the title as the Soweto giants finished second with 55 points.

The PSL will announce the nominees on Monday, but the actual awards ceremony will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on May 29.

Komphela parted ways with Amakhosi last month after their 2-0 loss to eventual Nedbank Cup champions Free State Stars at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

However, the former Ea Lla Koto mentor tipped Mosimane to walk away with the coveted trophy as he is the best coach in the country this season.

“Pitso has worked very hard and he has delivered the goods over the last few years at Mamelodi Sundowns‚” Komphela said to Timeslive.

“You must remember he has not had a break because Sundowns has been playing in the Caf Champions League and for that I think he deserves to be named the coach of the season," he said.

"Sundowns have played some of the best football this season and I honestly think he deserves it," he continued.
