Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi has indicated that he is ready to take charge of a club that is looking to challenge for big honours.
The South African tactician has been serving under Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane since February 2014 and the duo have won three Premier Soccer League (PSL) titles.
The Brazilians also clinched the 2015 Nedbank Cup, 2015 Telkom Knockout Cup and 2016 Caf Champions League under accomplished tactician Mosimane’s guidance.
Mngqithi now feels that he is now ready to lead a club that is looking to win the PSL title as a head coach.
“When I agreed to join Sundowns, I did that for one reason, and that was to learn how to win the league title,” Mngqithi told Isolezwe.

Mngqithi caught the eye when he made history by guiding Lamontville Golden Arrows to an MTN8 Cup title in 2009. It was his and club’s first major trophy.
The Umzimkhulu-born trainer joined Sundowns after parting ways with Arrows in 2013 which was his second spell in charge of Abafana Bes’thende.
“I already knew how to win a trophy, I wanted to learn how to win the league title. I wanted to understand the pressures that comes with competing for the title,” he continued.
Mngqithi wants to show what he has learned at the Brazilians where he worked with some of the best players in the country.
“I still have a contract with Sundowns but I want to make is clear that when I leave here I would like to stand on my own and coach a club that is prepared to win the league title,” Mngqithi added.
“I think it is time for me to show what I have learned at Sundowns,” he concluded.
The former AmaZulu FC and Bloemfontein Celtic mentor has been linked with the Kaizer Chiefs coaching job in the past.
Amakhosi's coaching post is currently vacant with Steve Komphela having resigned as head coach last April.
