Javier Aquino is in doubt for Mexico's March World Cup qualification matches after suffering a hamstring tear.
The Tigres winger was given his second yellow card and sent off from Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Pachuca for a clumsy tackle on Raul Lopez. In addition to the one-match suspension to be served this weekend against Veracruz, Aquino also was injured in the collision.
The grade-two tear will keep Aquino out of action between 4 and 6 weeks, Tigres announced Tuesday. That puts his club, already without first-choice goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman because of injury, at a disadvantage, while also making it unlikely Aquino will be able to represent Mexico against Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago in March.

Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio called Aquino up for the last pair of qualifiers, against the United States and Panama, only for the winger to suffer a hip problem while warming up for the final club match before the international break, and subsequently had to pull out of the national team.
Tigres, the current Liga MX champion, has fallen to three consecutive defeats and has just one point more than the league's last-place side after six rounds of play.
