Ibrahimovic makes bizarre Ikea bet with Beckham ahead of Sweden vs England

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sought to enter into a bizarre bet with David Beckham ahead of Sweden’s quarter-final clash with England at World Cup 2018.

The enigmatic frontman had hoped to be involved at the Russia showpiece this summer, but was eventually overlooked as no call was made to come out of international retirement.

As a result, the 36-year-old is being forced to watch on from afar.

He is in the middle of a domestic season with MLS side the LA Galaxy, but is allowing his attention to drift towards the endeavours of his country back on European soil.

With Sweden due to meet England in Samara on Saturday, Ibrahimovic has sought to raise the stakes with a former Paris Saint-Germain team-mate.

Ex-England captain Beckham will understandably be rooting for the Three Lions and could have extra reason to celebrate if Gareth Southgate’s side come out on top.

A meal at any restaurant in the world stands as the prize awaiting the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend, but he will have to dip into his own pocket if events go against him.

In true Ibrahimovic style, though, the reward for a Sweden victory is slightly peculiar.

Ibrahimovic is keeping things patriotic in his desire to hit Ikea, but what he has his eye on is anybody’s guess.

England will face Sweden in the first of two quarter-final ties on Saturday, with the victor going through to a last-four encounter with either Croatia or Russia.

Beckham never made it that far in his distinguished career, with 115 caps delivering only second round and quarter-final heartache.

Ibrahimovic will be hoping the class of 2018 endure a similar fate, allowing him to celebrate in style and acquire a new item of furniture for his Los Angeles abode.
