Chelsea offer Hudson-Odoi new contract and spot in Sarri's first-team

Chelsea have offered Callum Hudson-Odoi a lucrative five-year contract and promotion to Maurizio Sarri's first team next season, Goal understands.

Gianfranco Zola played a key role in the attempt to keep the wonderkid as the Blues legend and new assistant coach championed the youngster to Sarri and called for the club not to let the 17-year-old leave. 

However, Hudson-Odoi is still considering the offer from the FA Cup winners.

Sarri even opted to start Hudson-Odoi ahead of more senior players in their friendly against Perth Glory on Monday, where the youngster provided an assist for Pedro's goal in an impressive 45-minute display in Australia.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Villareal, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Monaco all expressed their desire to poach the youngster, who has already earned an international reputation after winning the U17 World Cup with England.

Chelsea had only signed the youngster on a professional deal in November last year, but the youngster was keen to hear offers after seeing many of his young colleagues move overseas for more game time.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have already lost Jonathan Panzo this summer in a deal with Monaco and clubs across England face losing their young talent, with Gareth Southgate having instructed players not to fear moving abroad.

The likes of Jadon Sancho, Ademola Lookman and Reece Oxford have all enjoyed bright spells in the Bundesliga and have inspired the next generation to open up to trying out foreign adventures.

Hudson-Odoi is highly regarded in the footballing community, having made four appearances under Antonio Conte last season. He was one of the brightest stars in youth football last season, scoring 21 goals in 30 games across various age categories last season.

After joining up with the youth academy in 2007, he has won two FA Youth Cups and the Under 18 league title with the London side.

Youth team coach Jody Morris said before Antonio Conte's departure from Chelsea that the Italian's replacement would play a role in deciding Hudson-Odoi's future , but is convinced he has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League.

"He will get a lot of plaudits because he has shown in glimpses that he has got real, real quality," Morris told Goal in May. "He showed in other glimpses that he needs to mature and he needs to follow instructions.

"He has got a lot to learn, and so have a lot of players on the pitch, but he has certainly got a chance if he keeps his feet on the ground and matures properly. There's a young kid there that has got a fantastic amount of talent."
