Qarabag FK bid for Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Khama Billiat

Goal can exclusively reveal that Qarabag FK have officially submitted a bid to sign Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Khama Billiat

According to a source very close to Billiat, the Azerbaijan Premier League side is only waiting to hear from the Brazilians regarding their offer.

"Qarabag FK have submitted their offer to Sundowns," the source told Goal. "They are only waiting for Sundowns to come back to them, but we're told that they [Sundowns] are considering it," said the source.

The source further confirmed that several PSL teams are after Billiat's signature, but revealed that the player is not interested in joining another local club.

Billiat has also not signed a pre-contract with any of the PSL teams that he has been linked with in recent weeks, according to the source.

"No, no, he hasn't signed a pre-contract with anyone, and he is definitely not joining a local team. He doesn't want to play locally. He wants to move abroad; whether in Europe or Asia. So, it is not true that he has signed a pre-contract locally," explained the source.

The 27-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract with Sundowns, and the source added that the club doesn't have an option to renew, meaning they could cash in on Billiat to avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.

"This is similar to the [Alexis] Sanchez story at Arsenal. Billiat is also in his final six months with Sundowns. So, it's up to them whether to sell him now or risk losing him for free at the end of the season, but I'm sure they will make the right decision," concluded the source.

Billiat has featured nine times for the Tshwane giants so far this season, with three goals and four assists to his name.
