Boateng rues TSG Hoffenheim stalemate in Bundesliga

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng says the Eagles have themselves to blame for giving away a late goal in Saturday's draw at TSG Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga.

Niko Kovac's outfit looked headed for a famous away win until the first minute of injury time when Mark Uth struck to restore parity for a 1-1 stalemate at WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena.

Summer signing Boateng scored on 13 minutes to give Frankfurt the lead.

"It was difficult for us in the second half against the attacking quality Hoffenheim have," Boateng said after the match, as reported by his club's official website.

"We were too late to the ball once and then conceded the equaliser.

"I don't think it was a foul in the build-up to their goal, but we can't make excuses about whether or not the ball was a couple of yards too far forward or too far back for the free-kick.

"Maybe we just need to be a bit smarter and stand in front of the ball to stop them taking it so that we can organise ourselves better at the back.

"They made the most of those few seconds to score."

Boateng has now made it two goals in 12 league appearances involving 10 starts so far this season.

"I had a bit of luck with my goal," the 30-year-old admitted.

"You probably only catch the ball like that once in your life.

"If I'd hit it slightly differently it would probably have gone way over."

Currently seventh on the log, Frankfurt host Bayer 04 Leverkusen in their next Bundesliga game on Saturday.
