Algeria’s Islam Slimani sustains injury in Leicester City defeat

Algeria international Islam Slimani sustained a nasty cut in Leicester City’s 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in Saturday’s friendly game.

The attacker was substituted at the half-hour mark by Japanese’s Shinji Okazaki, after he limped off the field in the clash.

Ivan Cavaleiro scored the lone goal that separated the two sides in the 60th minute.

Slimani collided with Wolves’ defender, Roderick Miranda which left him with a deep bloody wound at the back of his knee.

Leicester City coach, Mike Stowell is certain that the injury will not keep the forward out of their game against Burton Albion on Tuesday’s friendly.

“It was a very nasty cut,” Stowell told Leicester Mercury.

“It was a freak accident and the blade of the boot has cut him right at the back of his knee.

“There was no way he was going back out there so he had to be stitched up in the dressing room.

“Hopefully, he’ll be back out there against Burton.”
