Kaizer Chiefs suffer Shabba two week injury

Kaizer Chiefs playmaker Siphiwe Tshabalala has been ruled out of action for 14 days following a horrific knee injury in a friendly match against Chippa United in Port Elizabeth
This means that he will miss the much anticipated Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

He collided heavily with Chippa's Brazilian defender Milos Alves, who was on trial with the club. It was a 50-50 challenge late in the second half in that entertaining 4-2 win by the Glamour Boys at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

This injury to one of the key men for the Amakhosi is the last thing the club's faithful needed to hear three days away from a big showdown with their fiercest rivals and a week away from their MTN 8 last eight meeting against Mpumalanga Black Aces at home.

The club's statement late on Tuesday from its website read: "A Chippa United player fell over the midfield maestro, causing harm to the inner ligament of the knee."

Shabba will also miss the ABSA Premiership's opener against Free State Stars a week after their Wafa Wafa encounter.
