Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 Orlando Pirates

Kaizer Chiefs' warhorse Tsepo Masilela was able to piece together an exceptional performance during the Soweto Derby on Saturday, earning a man of the match award after the all-important game. The left-back was influential in attack and defense, as Chiefs recovered from conceding an early goal, eventually securing a 1-1 draw with their rivals in an ill-tempered yet enthralling clash between the two Soweto Giants.

Congratulations to Tefu Mashamaite Goal.com's 52nd South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Kermit Erasmus - Orlando Pirates

Erasmus opened the scoring for Pirates in the Soweto Derby with a clinical finish from inside the area. The striker was a force to be reckoned with until being substituted after picking up a knock during the thrlling derby encounter.

Thapelo Tshilo- Polokwane City

Tshilo was impressive in defence for Polokwane City, as they "parked the bus" and held off a Sundowns onslaught in order to seal a shock 1-0 win on Saturday night. The captain rightly earned the man of the match award following the win.
Thokozani Sekotlong - Maritzburg United

Sekotlong's deft chip over AmaZulu keeper Tapuwa Kapini sealed the Kwa-Zulu Natal derby, as Maritzburg United won the match 2-0, inflicting yet another defeat upon Craig Rosslee's side, while it was Clint Larsen's first win in charge of the club.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
