Orlando Pirates required a hero to progress past continental giants TP Mazembe on Sunday and one arrived in the form of Senzo Meyiwa. The keeper, who has been criticised at times for his inconsistency, was imperious in goal in Lubumbashi which helped the Buccaneers secure a spot in the next round of the Caf Champions League. The keeper's brilliant shot-stopping skills came to the fore as he denied two controversial penalties, as well as keeping the rampant DR Congo side down to a single goal - which was enough for Pirates to advance 3-2 on aggregate after their 3-1 win at home earlier this month. Roger de Sa's side had to fight hard for the result due to a red card shown to captain Lucky Lekghwati, but eventually prevailed thanks to the five-star performance from Meyiwa.

Congratulations to Senzo Meyiwa Goal.com's 29th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Bongani Ndulula  - AmaZulu

Ndulula scored twice to help AmaZulu secure an impressive 4-0 win over Black Leopards, which pushes AmaZulu up into 12th place on the PSL log and away from the relegation danger zone, which the side has been flirting with throughout the season.

Katlego Mashego - Moroka Swallows

The Dube Birds goal scoring machine continued on his merry way when Swallows defeated Golden Arrows 4-1 last week in a PSL encounter. Mashego scored twice in the second half to add to Bennet Chenene's two strikes in the opening period.
Lebogang Manyama- Ajax Cape Town

Manyama struck two vital goals against Kaizer Chiefs during Ajax Cape Town's 3-1 win in the Mother City last week. The forward netted the opener for the Urban Warriors and put them ahead once more after Chiefs equalised deep in the second half.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
