Alje Schut proved to be the difference on Saturday by scoring the winning goal against Orlando Pirates for Mamelodi Sundowns. It was a goal that didn't only ensure 3 points, but also moved Sundowns into the top 8 on the PSL log and closer to their dream of participating in the MTN8. The goal also brought to an end the dreams of millions of Pirates supporters who were still hopeful that Pirates could win the league for a third time in a row. Schut's overall performance in the match was also impressive as he denied Collins Mbesuma space on multiple occasions.

Congratulations to Alje Schut's 30th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Mabhuti Khenyeza   - Ajax Cape Town

Khenyeza scored a vital goal to help Ajax secure a draw against Maritzburg United on Saturday. Trailing at half-time, the visitors required a goal and Khenyeza was on hand with a 65th minute strike. The Urban Warriors now need one point to ensure PSL survival.

Thabo Mosadi - University of Pretoria

Mosadi scored two second half goals for AmaTuks during their 2-2 draw against Chippa United on Saturday. The Chilli Boys were able to muster a late equaliser through Mkhanyiseli Siwahla but Mosadi's efforts should not be forgotten.
Joel Mogorosi- Bloemfontein Celtic

Mogorosi scored twice in the first half against Free State Stars during an enthralling Free State Derby, which saw Steve Komphela's side fight back from two goals down to secure a draw against their provincial rivals.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
