Kaizer Chiefs made a major step towards their first PSL title in eight years, after defeating Bloemfontein Celtic in front of a tumultous home crowd on Sunday afternoon. In what was called a collective effort, one player certainly did stand out and that was Simphiwe Tshabalala. The midfielder's creative genius and skill on the ball was for all to see at the Free State Stadium, as he completed the most passes in the game, set up Kingston Nkhatha for the opening goal after a mesmerising run past three Celtic defenders and finally scored Chief's second with a curling effort which deflected past a rooted Patrick Tignyemb.

Congratulations to Simphiwe Tshabalala's 24th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Kermit Erasmus - SuperSport United

Erasmus scored twice within five minutes in the first half against Black Leopards, during Matsatsantsa's 3-2 home victory on Saturday. The win continues the resurgence of SuperSport, who will plan to break into the upper part of the PSL table.

Siyabonga Mpontshane - Platinum Stars

Dikwena's keeper was in superb form on Saturday by keeping out a rampant Mamelodi Sundowns. The controversial draw ended 1-1, but Mpontshane was largely to thank for stalling Sundown's charge with some fine saves.
Bennet Chenene- Moroka Swallows

Chenene continued the Dube Birds surge up the table with a goal in the first half against Free State Stars on Friday evening. Zeca Marques' men are seeking a late league burst in order to improve their current league standing.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
