SuperSport United and Platinum Stars square off on Wednesday night in a Nedbank Cup semi-final clash in Rustenburg.

The winner of the match will play Kaizer Chiefs in the final after the Amakhosi defeated United FC 2-1 in the first semi-final of the competition.

Gavin Hunt's SuperSport are aiming to defend the title they won last year, but face a determined and in-form Platinum Stars side which is chasing glory on two fronts.

Hunt has claimed his side are going into the match as "underdogs" but do not fear Dikwena's impressive possession play which has been the strongest aspect of their game this season.

“It is an away game for us so I’m sure it will be tough, semifinals are normally harder than finals, we’ve been in a few. They are difficult games to play in, we are playing on a nice pitch and we are playing at night so it makes a big difference I think,” said Hunt.

"I think we would just like another day in the sun, we want to get to the final that is for sure because it is a great occasion and it keeps your season going. It is important for us if we can get to the final.

“It will be tough obviously they haven’t won anything, we have been in quite a lot of finals and we know what it feels like, we want that feeling again, it is important for us.”

Cavin Johnson has stated that the match will be a tough encounter for side on the eve of the encounter, but is confident that his team is up to the task.

“We are aware that SuperSport are strong in the cup, even though they have won three league titles under Gavin Hunt they are known to be good in cup games,” said Johnson.

“I’m sure they will rise to the occasion despite the loss on the weekend. It is going to be a very tough game but we back ourselves on one of the best pitches in South Africa.”
