Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter wants his players to beat United FC on Saturday after revealing that they owe it to their faithful supporters.
AmaKhosi were humbled by Ajax Cape Town in front of thousands of their fans gathered at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night, but Baxter believes that they will bounce back against the NFD side.
“We have unbelievable supporters. They are all over the country and I understand their frustrations at the moment. We are hoping to make amends by winning our next game against United FC. We owe it to them,” said Baxter in a press conference held at the PSL offices on Thursday afternoon.
However, the AmaKhosi boss added that they are not going to undermine their NFD opponents and he highlighted that United FC could be the strongest side in the semifinals of this year’s competition.
Baxter also confirmed that they will apply the same tactics that they have been using against other teams from the beginning of the season, but dismissed the possibility of winning both the league and the Nedbank Cup.
“United FC are a good side and we are not going to undermine them at all. They could possibly be the strongest side in the semifinals,” he said.
“We will stick to our game. We have played a great football since the beginning of the season and that is not going to change against United FC. It’s still one game at the time for us. We are not thinking about the Nedbank title as yet, but to progress to the final,” added Baxter.
