United FC coach Dan Malesela admits that they will be facing a massive challenge against Kaizer Chiefs in the semifinal of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday night
The National First Division side have done well in the competition this year, beating the likes of Chippa United and Jomo Cosmos in the process and Malesela admitted that this is a massive game for them.
“We are preparing for Kaizer Chiefs. It’s a big game for us and the players will have to focus,” said Malesela during a press conference held at the PSL offices on Thursday morning.
Malesela, a former Pirates and Sundowns player during his playing days, revealed that they have hired a sport psychologist who is responsible for mental preparedness of the players.
“We are getting help from outside. We have decided to get a sport psychologist to help us with mental preparation,” he said.
With the North West-based outfit still very much in the NFD title race, Malesela added that they are eyeing both the glories and that they are trying to strike a balance.
United FC are third on the NFD log, two points behind the log leaders Thanda Royal Zulu who have two games in hand.
“The league (NFD) is as important as the Nedbank Cup to us. Beating Chiefs will be great, but that is not a priority right now. We want to gain promotion to the PSL and learn to play in different competitions at the same time,” added Dan Malesela.
