Mamelodi Sundowns hard-tackling midfielder Hlompho Kekana believes that they can contain their Nedbank Cup quarterfinal opponents Platinum Stars, when the two sides meet in three weeks time.
Kekana says that they are ready for the dangerous Dikwena side that has been doing so well this season. He believes that Platinum Stars deserve respect.
“We are very much aware about Platinum Stars and we know how they have been doing. They are very dangerous. We just want to go there and give them the respect they deserve,” said Kekana.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic man has set his sights on the Nedbank Cup glory, having lost the same trophy to neighbours SuperSport United at the end of last season.
“Sundowns want to win every trophy on offer but it’s unfortunate that the Nedbank Cup is the only cup available to us this season. We lost it against SuperSport United last season and it will be a nice feeling to lift it this time around,” he said.
Kekana though, says the team hasn’t lost its focus on the league, and reveals that the top eight finish is still Sundowns’ priority.
He added: “Of course we still want to do well in the league. We are not only focusing on the cup. We also want to finish in the top eight.”
