Brazil defender Marcelo feels are back among football's best teams following their 3-0 success against Spain in the Confederations Cup final.
Two goals from Fred and a further Neymar strike were enough for the Selecao to beat the world and European champions and win their the tournament for a third straight time.
And Marcelo believes the victory shows that his side are back among the elite national teams of international football.
"We have a lot of respect for the Spanish squad and we succeeded in defeating them," the Real Madrid left-back was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"They have an incredible team and to beat them 3-0 like this is to make history.
"What's more, it was a great thrill to play here with the support of these wonderful fans."
"We have demonstrated that Brazil are returning to their rightful place, which is at the very top. Other teams will look at us a lot differently now.
"We are not a conceited group of players, though, and we will try to improve our performance in home games."
