Billiat produced a man of the match performance and grabbed a brace to help Sundowns to a 4-0 win over defending champions Bloem Celtic

Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Khama Billiat said it wasn’t easy for his side despite their emphatic 4-0 win over Bloem Celtic in the Telkom Knockout Cup on Sunday.

However, the former Ajax Cape Town man was pleased that they managed to score goals and also to book their place in the last eight of the competition.

“It wasn’t an easy for us coming away. You know this Cup is always about goals. We can defend as much as we can, but at the end of the day we have to score goals for us to go into the second round,” said Billiat after the game.

Billiat, who was voted man of the match for his outstanding performance on the day, scored two superb goals, but he paid tribute to his teammates who made it easy for him.

“I think it was a good game; we changed a little bit the way we played the last game, because of the way they were playing as well. So, I think we did well and credit (must go) to the team, because we worked as a team and at the end it paid off,” he said.

Sundowns look likely to get their first piece of silverware after six seasons of drought, as they are still the only side unbeaten in the PSL this season.
