Goal caught up with SuperSport United and South Africa under-20 midfielder Morne Nel who last enjoyed a successful debut season in the Premier Soccer League (PSL)
Nel : To be honest, I never knew it was going to come this quickly. However, by the grace of God, I have arrived in the PSL.
Goal : You made your official league debut during SuperSport's 2-1 defeat against Ajax Cape Town last November. How was that game in particular?
Nel : It felt really good, and after my first game I just wanted to play more. But it has now sunk in that I have realized my dream of playing in the PSL.
Goal : Reigning PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns and of course SuperSport, were both said to be chasing your services.
Nel: Yes, they (Sundowns) were interested in me, but I just thought about what was best for me in my football career, and I decided to join SuperSport.
Goal : Do you have any regrets thus far, after rejecting Sundowns?
Nel : No, I have no regrets whatsoever about my decision to snub Sundowns. I'm happy where I am, which is here at SuperSport.
Goal : You picked up two Man of the Match awards against Orlando Pirates in the league last season. Tell us about that.
Nel : It felt great being Man of the Match against a big team like Pirates. It means a lot me, but this means I have to work harder. I have to achieve more.
Goal : Morne, some of your teammates at Amajita have been called up to Bafana Bafana squad. What's does this mean for you as a youth international?
Nel : It does motivate me a lot but everything takes time. At the moment, I am working hard, and hopefully, a chance to play for the senior national squad will soon present itself as well to me.
Goal : Amajita will be taking on Cameroon under-20 in a crucial 2015 African U/20 Championship final round qualifier second leg encounter this weekend. Your thoughts?
Nel : We are ready for Cameroon, and we are just working hard as a team, and we are going to give our 150% in the match against them at home.
Goal : You guys drew 1-1 against Cameroon in the first leg in Yaounde. So judging by their performance in the first leg, do you think they are beatable?
Nel : Yes most definitely, they are surely beatable, looking at how they played against us in Cameroon, and the opportunities we got. So, yes, we can win this game at home.
Goal : Thanks Morne.
Nel : It is my pleasure.
