Clubless Samuel Julies, who failed to win a contract at Mpumalanga Black Aces recently, is reportedly trying out at NFD side Golden Arrows. The Kimberley-born player is a graduate from the Mamelodi Sundowns development academy and got promoted to the first-team in 2011 under Johan Neeskens, but he failed to crack the nod, even though he had more game-time under the Dutchman than with Pitso Mosimane.

Smeekes looking for PSL club

Orlando Smeekes, who was released by Maritzburg United at the end of last season is looking for another crack at the big-time amidst interest from Europe.  The Dutchman enjoyed a great run of form when Steve Komphela took over midway last season, scoring some vital goals that nearly took the Team of Choice to their first-ever top eight participation.

He was released from the Pietermaritzburg side because of wages being too high for them. At 33, Smeekes still has the pace, skill and killer instinct.
