Manqele spent last season on loan at Moroka Swallows, scoring eight league goals for the Dube Birds before reporting to Chloorkop for pre-season training last month

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that striker Edward Manqele will move to Chippa United on a season-long loan deal, the Tshwane giants said on their official website.

The bulky marksman has been linked with a number of PSL clubs including Orlando Pirates, after he demanded his clearance from the Brazilians a few weeks ago.

However, the Brazilians were only willing to let him leave on loan despite the player making it clear that he wants to move elsewhere on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old Manqele had attracted interested from Kaizer Chiefs prior to his move to Sundowns three seasons ago, and AmaKhosi again put an offer for his services during the January Transfer Window.

However, Sundowns were not interested in selling the former Free State Stars hitman to rivals, and he remained with Swallows for the rest of last season.

Meanwhile, Sundowns have confirmed that midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni will also spend next season on loan at the Port Elizabeth club.

Sangweni has been training with United for over three weeks now, and played in a friendly game against Chiefs two weeks ago after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Sundowns following the arrival of Asavela Mbekile.

The Empangeni-born midfielder, who had a promising career while at AmaZulu, was on the books of Ajax Cape Town last season, after finding it difficult to get regular game time at Sundowns.
