Following Haashim Domingo’s successful trial at Ajax Amsterdam, the Urban Warriors are refusing to accept the offer made for the youngster
Ajax Cape Town's Haashim Domingo returned to The Mother City following a successful trial with Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam. The young midfielder impressed Jaap Stam in the reserve side, before catching the eye of Frank de Boer as well in the first team.
The 18-year-old sensation will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Benni McCarthy, Steven Pienaar and Thulani Serero, who have each made a mark respectively in Europe after making their way to De Amsterdammers.
Domingo’s agent Rob Moore spoke to Ajax ShowTime and has subsequently lashed out at The Urban Warriors for not accepting the offer, and believes this will deteriorate the relationship between the two clubs.
“The situation is bizarre. Ajax will not let him go,” said Moore.
“It is sad for Domingo. He comes now as an amateur from Ajax Cape Town and only gets paid one hundred Euros per month. Now he gets the chance to sign a professional contract, but is at Ajax Cape Town and not Ajax (Amsterdam).
“At Ajax, they will be wondering they even work with Ajax Cape Town. For African talent, this is a bad sign,” added Moore.
Ajax Cape Town reportedly want more than R10 million for Domingo, and according to reports in Amsterdam, this is a ridiculous fee seeing that the youngster has not played first team football as yet.
De Amsterdammers recently paid R20-million for Thulani Serero in 2011, and The Urban Warriors will not want to miss out on this financial opportunity.
