thumbnail Hello,

Goal has been informed by a player at SuperSport United that Sundowns will sign Niang, but United are denying that a deal is in place

Niang's teammate at SuperSport has informed Goal that the tall striker sealed his move to the Brazilians.

"It's done. Sundowns have signed Long Weekend (Niang). He has played his last match for Matsatsantsa," the player, who doesn't want to be named, told Goal.

Niang played for SuperSport United against Sundowns in the Gauteng Cup yesterday, winning in a penalty shootout.

The 30-year-old one-time Senegal international netted three goals during the 2014 Caf Confederation Cup campaign for Matsatsantsa.

Downs want 'Long Weekend' to replicate his good form again in next year's Caf Champions League campaign.

"He told us last week. Mame is both a great guy and player. We shall miss him at SuperSport," the United player told Goal.

The former Moroka Swallows and University of Pretoria attacker notched seven goals in 27 appearances in all local competitions last season.

Niang's SuperSport contract was only due to expire in 2016. However SuperSport United media officer David Skosana has poured cold water on his own player's claim.

Skosana told Goal that Niang is still a United player at the time of going to press, and that as far as he knows there's no deal with Sundowns.
