The 19-year-old Fortuin is hoping to get a professional contract next season to grow as a player before trying his luck again in Europe
Dane's father Chris Fortuin, who facilitated his son's two-week trial in England, told Goal that United suggested Fortuin gets a club where he can compete on a high level to enhance his chances of getting a contract with them.
"He is back and it went very good, but you know the difficulty of signing him now. His assessment states that he should be playing on a very high level," Mr Fortuin told Goal.
"We are looking for a team here in South Africa at the moment and hope he can get a team that is willing to sign him," he said.
The attacking full-back had also told Goal that Sheffield United's technical team was impressed with him during his stint with them, and he remains positive about the future ahead.
However, unlike the likes of May Mahlangu and Ayanda Patosi, who moved straight to Europe without playing in the PSL, Fortuin will have to impress at home before moving abroad.
