Mayambela struggled to win a contract at Moroka Swallows last year, but Mpumalanga Black Aces gave him a chance before terminating his contract towards the end of 2013

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mark Mayambela has officially signed a three-year contract with Swedish side Djurgardens IF, the club and the player confirmed on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Mayambela spent the past few weeks on trial with Djurgardens, and the club finally decided to reward the talented left-footer with a formal contract.

"I have signed a three-year contract with the club," Mayambela told DIFTV. "I feel previlidged and honoured (to join) such a great club with such great history; one of the biggest clubs in Sweden," he said.

"I think they can help me become a better player with the coach and the players that are here at the club. My heart cannot describe how i feel, but I am happy," added Mayambela.

The club revealed that they are hoping to see Mayambela in action against Sirius in the Swedish Cup that starts next weekend.

"Our hope is that the 26-year-old winger is ready for play when the Swedish Cup's group stage starts next weekend," the club said on their official website.
