Orlando Pirates target and KV Oostende striker Nyasha Mushekwi has been ruled out of action for up to 16 weeks, his club confirmed on Monday.
Mushekwi had to be replaced after 23 minutes of Oostende's 1-1 draw at KV Mechelen last Saturday night, and scans have showed that he will be out for quite some time.
"Scans showed that the cruciate ligaments are not torn, but there's a tear of the ligament that stabilizes the knee.
"This means the Zimbabwean attacker will surely be out for the next four months," KV Oostende said on their official website.
The injury casts doubts on whether the Belgian side will offer Mushekwi a permanent deal when his loan deal expires at the end of the current season.
Mushekwi was on the verge of joining Pirates before the start of the season, and the Buccaneers have publicly admitted that they'd be pleased to have the striker on their books.
