thumbnail Hello,

Katlego Mphela has spent far too long watching on from the sidelines and if reports are to be believed, the attacker is set for a move away from Mamelodi Sundowns in the new year

Katlego Mphela will keep Mamelodi Sundowns guessing as to what his future holds, as a move away from the Brazilians looks more and more like a done deal in the new year.

Mphela has fallen out of favour at Sundowns since new coach Pitso Mosimane took over late last year.

'Killer' has been linked with a return to former team SuperSport United and is reportedly in advanced talks with a host of clubs keen on acquiring his services.

With the season heading into the latter stages and African assignments on the cards, Kaizer Chiefs have also been linked with the Bafana Bafana international.

Chiefs have looked thin in numbers and an available Mphela could be a temptation for Stuart Baxter and the Glamour Boys, but Matsatsantsa look favourites to land the talented and once prolific goalscorer.

Another option for Mphela could be a loan deal to fellow Pretoria club AmaTuks, who have reportedly approached Mosimane to lend the striker to them for the rest of the season.

Mphela would certainly be a first team regular for Tuks and would be able to regain match fitness, while helping the University outfit out with his undoubted class and skill.

But if Mosimane is to be believed, however, Mphela is still a happy man at Sundowns.NThe ball seems to be in Mosimane’s court. If Sundowns offer Mphela a new deal before January 1, Killer may be tempted to stay.

If Bafana Ba Style not offer a new contract, Mphela will sign a pre-contract with another club. Only time will tell what Mphela decides, but what is clear is the need for one of the country’s top marksman to return to his best, in order to fight for a place in Gordon Igesund’s national team.
