Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the signing of Ugandan-born defender Ivan Bukenya on a free transfer.
The 21-year-old Bukenya has penned a two-year deal with the PSL champions with an option to renew should the two parties agree at the end of his current contract.
Speaking to the club website after his official unveiling, Bukenya expressed his delight at joining the club and he also praised the spirit at the Chiefs camp.
"I received a warm welcome from the players and everyone at the village (Naturena). The captain (Itu Khune) is forever happy and has been supportive. There is a spirit of love and peace in the team and I am looking forward to a great time here," said Bukenya.
Equally pleased was Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung who then took the opportunity to welcome Bukenya. Motaung was also quick to point out that the Ugandan international can play both as a defender and a midfielder.
"We would like to welcome Ivan to the team. He is a quality player and has both defensive and midfield qualities. He is a professional, age is on his side as well and we are hoping for longer relations. The coach has worked with him and he is happy with what he saw," said Motaung.
