Orlando Pirates midfielder Liphoko off to Greece for a trial

Liphoko will trial at Lincoln Zvasiya’s new club OFI Crete FC, as he is unlikely to command a regular place in the Pirates starting line-up

Orlando Pirates midfielder Tshepo Liphoko is set to leave the country for a trial in Europe after an impressive 2012/2013 PSL season.

A source within the Pirates camp confirmed that Liphoko will indeed fly to Greece for a trial, and he believes that OFI Crete FC will sign the midfielder should he impress.

“His agency (ProSport International) has informed the team about his trial in Greece. It is the same team that Zvasiya has joined (OFI Crete FC). If he impresses then anything is possible,” said our source.

The 18-year-old Liphoko spent the whole of last season on loan with Golden Arrows, but it seems as if he doesn’t have a future at Pirates as yet.

Pirates have already signed Joseph Malongoane and Jacky Motshegwa, while Tlou Segolela is expected to put pen to paper before the end of this week.

However, Liphoko could join the Greek side on loan following on the footsteps of Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya who was signed last week.
