Sundowns confirm to Goal that they have lost interest in signing the Bloem Celtic and Bafana centre-back Thabo Nthethe
Nthethe has been linked with a move away from Celtic, and Sundowns were interested in the player who publicly revealed that he is not ready to play for any of the Gauteng teams.
“We are not hoping to sign Nthethe anymore. We have other plans in mind,” the Sundowns official told Goal.

With Musa Nyatama currently at Celtic for trials, one would have thought that the two clubs may strike a swap deal that would see Nthethe at Chloorkop next season, but Sundowns maintain that they are looking to sell Nyatama outright.
“Nyatama is in Bloemfontein as you know, but we are not using him to get Nthethe. We will sell him to Celtic if Clinton Larsen likes him. We are not hoping for a swap deal,” added the Downs official.
Nthethe has also been targeted by Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, although AmaKhosi have been secretive about their interest in the player.

However, the 28-year-old Nthethe could still be playing for Celtic next season if any of the interested teams fail to come up with a better offer.
The Celtic skipper, Nthethe will lead Bafana in the upcoming Cosafa Cup tournament in Zambia. He has been a regular in the Bafana starting line-up recently.
Meanwhile, the Brazilians have reportedly snatched Bongani Zungu from AmaTuks, beating stiff competition from both SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits.
The 20-year-old Zungu is believed to have signed a three-year deal with Sundowns, and should travel with the rest of his new teammates to Polokwane today (Monday).
